One shots
Am i the only one who thinks the one shots are BS? I just got done playing this weeks. Oh, i lost, but first not without villain doing some bs manuevers. For example, first 5 turns into the game and they already pulled out 3 people from beneath the shrine. Secondly, why does the villain deck play the exact card they need but yet, by the time i got imbued fire (20,000 turns later even with using his power) all my guys were below 10 hp. Then along with the environments BS like "Oh you just got a combo to help you out? Let me play my card that you cant play cards." or "oh thats a nice power you have there. itd be a shame if you took damage every time."

Look, if your gonna give us these one shots, then let the player choose. The makers choose the villain and environment. PLAYERS choose the heroes. Cause when you are legit a turn away from winning and the enviroment plays the top of the villain deck AND IT MAGICALLY FREAKING COMBOS TO PULL THE LAST PERSON OUT FROM THE SHRINE, its really F****** BULLS***.

They have pre set cards yeah, unless it say that's a random start. Yeah some are meant to be more trouble to the player than others.

These are usually meant to be difficult and rigged from the start. It may seem like pure BS, but when you get to know most heroes and villains, it become challenging but not impossible.

Yea, i agree with you, friend. I know haka and ra (ra is my boy. been using him since i first played the actual card game) pretty well. im getting better with scholar, but nightmist and fanatic im a little iffy. And i understand about the preset cards, but it just seems like by the time i get what i need to even be effective, all my people are either dead, or almost dead.

My problem with this weeks one shot is simple. If they wanted us to face all members of the Ennead then make it advanced. Don't set it to Normal and then have them get the exact cards they need to play the other members. Let us know what we're walking into.

It's perfectly possible to win with 7 or 8 Ennead out. I won without ever seeing Geb or Set. Take advantage of Mistbound, it really slows them down. Also, Drawn to the Flame is beastly despite the Ennead's total lack of ongoing cards.

Actually it's easier than advanced. When you play advanced, they get one out every turn. This is not the case in this one. Yeah they get a few out real fast, but it slow down after a few turns.

This game was originally going to be advanced but the beta testers complained it was too hard. It's a lot easier in this form, but the Ennead shuffle decks a lot which makes this one vary quite a bit.

There is no gimmick and nothing is "rigged". The random seed was a number entered in the survey by the player who suggested the setup.

Nothing happens in any weekly one shot that cannot happen any time you play Sentinels.

In fact I feel like the one-shots can be MORE fair, at least when they aren't completely randomised. Nasty things can happen any game of Sentinels - I got wiped out recently by Baron Blade, of all the villains, because the environment played a damage boost and then he played four Hasten Dooms in a row. It is absolutely possible to get into situations in this game where you CANNOT win - less likely with some setups than others, but it is possible. The one-shots don't tend to give you that. They're tricky, they're a challenge, but they aren't just fixed to ruin your day.

Isn't that single player already? I think one shots are fine. If you're having a hard time, practice and learn more about the heroes. As someone with 500 hrs in the game, I find all one shots doable at least.

I usually only post weekly one shots that I've beaten on my first try. Ridiculous Challenge Time was an exception :)

I got tired of them eventually, stopped keeping up with them a couple of one-shots ago

I found this week's much easier by burning Atum right off the bat. His incap makes the villain deck shuffle, so you can interrupt the stacking that gets other members out. I think I only saw 2 others come out in my play through.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a conspiracy theory as to the stacking of the decks for weekly one-shots, I wouldn't have to keep searching for jobs.

I've given up on these worthless games as well. Rigged decks, useles heroes..playing dozens of time until you happen to draw the one lucky freakish combo of hero cards that give you a chance isnt my idea of fun.
ordalca Sep 27, 2016 @ 7:49pm
Well this week is randomized. Might want to keep going.

Yes, I agree. That is single player, but you can set everything so you win. (Lost track of how many times I've stomped ambuscade). I just mean give us the choice. Either we choose the heroes, or we choose the environment/villain.
