Otherwise, yeah, it's kind of "what would you personally find interesting". A spin around the Sentinels Wiki[sentinelswiki.com] might help (please excuse that it's in the middle of a "remodel" layout-wise, so to speak).
Villain of the multiverse is an expansion to the vengeance expansion.
Other expansion basically add more heroes, villains and environment deck to choose from
I also picked Shattered Timelines on top of that, for Omnitron recursion. Contains no less insane villains against which extremely careful approach is needed.
Looking into getting Mini-Pack 2 for Miss Information villain which should be no less interesting!
OblivAeon is a kind of extremely high-level endgame content, as far as I know :)
Infernal Relics, Wrath of the Cosmos and Shattered Timelines are probably all about equal in terms of what they give you, two heroes and four villains. Rook City is similar but has a couple of heroes that are considered pretty bad, and some of the villains are on the frustrating side, so I'd rate it lower than the other three. I'd probably rate Relics-> Wrath-> Timelines in terms of giving you 'standard' fights if you want to keep it simple, but otherwise just pick whatever theme appeals to you.
Out of the mini packs, MP1 and MP both have solid villains that are on the easier side, so may be good as an early purchase. I'd probably avoid MP 2 and 3, as the villains are more 'puzzles' rather than straight up fights, again unless that's something you are after. MP5 is good for filling out your heroes, but has no villain.
Vengeance and Villains of the Multiverse change how the game works, so it's essentially a team vs team fight. I'd probably recommend this after playing the 'main' game if you want another way to play. Note that the villains aren't compatible between the two modes of play, but the heroes are.
Oblivaeon is kind of the equivalent of 'end game content' so I wouldn't really recommend it as an initial purchase.
Oblivaeon also has five very good heroes and some fun environments, the big guy can easily be ignored.
