Imagine, a playable Plague Rat, or Heroic Infinitor with his own deck.
true but then again you have to consider how well balanced those decks would be and how buggy they would be with the literal mountain of mechanics to deal with.
I just feel that user modded decks sound a bit iffy to me
Sure the cauldron stuff is good but for every good fan deck out there, there's a bunch of awful ones. Not to mention all the bug testing that would be needed for each card and deck interaction.
Granted some tested ideas would be great to get workshopped in, like more team villain decks using pared down existing villians, etc. But it's not something I see easily happening.
Basically, more options to set up more specific scenarios.
As for a story mode, I'd be ready to pay different story pack if they make good efforts into it. Like a story mode covering different heroes, with their own story pack, same for various lore teams, like a Freedom (X) story, the Darkwatch, Prime Warden and the Sentinels. There is many options to enhance this game in depth, without having the need to add fan made decks.
Pretty excited for SoEP too, since that's also a full set.
The only other thing I would want is new content created for the digital version that doesn't exist physically, like new variants or environments.
Everything else I'm more or less neutral about. Getting to use fan-made variants would be potentially interesting and Earth Prime would mean more content, but I don't particularly need either of those things. And while I recognize other people would love console ports, I don't own any consoles currently and so am not personally invested in the topic.
Plus with consoles specifically I feel like the game would almost need to have Story Mode before being ported anyway just because of the different expectations for console gaming.
I love the idea in theory... especially in the weekly one-shot or a story-mode like series of games, or Variant cards.
Its just that i dread all the bugs and weird and wild interactions that would introduce. Lots of people already get confused on how certain card interactions work or proceed. Mods (and i'm thinking of several cauldron decks with cool but unique play powers specifically) will just compound that.
And while i know the steam workshops curate... i just see it quickly becoming a mess.
Not to mention how it will impact those not playing on steam. How would phones/kindles/(possibly consoles) gain access in order for cross platform play to continue?
exactly, it's one of those things that sounds great on paper but when you actually make it, not so much.
