sentinels story mode.
So if you've taken a look at the survey they're doing for sentinels you might have noticed that one of the questions asks if players would like to see a story mode be released for sentinels.

I'm willing to wager that a lot of people really want to see this sort of thing in the digital version and I just wanted your guys thoughts on the matter, if you really want to see it, if you think they'll make it, and how you think they'll lay it out if they do.

I put it fairly low on the list of things I'd want, but now that I think about it more, it is something that I'd like to see; I liked the achievements (especially DW Setback) because they gave me more direction than just "hit random and see what happens".

Having been playing through some amazing fan content in Slay the Spire, I ranked user mods much higher. A story mode would be cool, but more decks is always going to win out for me.

Imagine, a playable Plague Rat, or Heroic Infinitor with his own deck.

true but then again you have to consider how well balanced those decks would be and how buggy they would be with the literal mountain of mechanics to deal with.

I just feel that user modded decks sound a bit iffy to me

I put the workshop at the top because of Cauldron alone. It's a set of fan expansions for the table top version.

For me story mode was 2nd behind an official SoEP expansion, with the workshop 3rd down.

Sure the cauldron stuff is good but for every good fan deck out there, there's a bunch of awful ones. Not to mention all the bug testing that would be needed for each card and deck interaction.

Granted some tested ideas would be great to get workshopped in, like more team villain decks using pared down existing villians, etc. But it's not something I see easily happening.

Wouldn't hate to see a story mode, but what I'd really like more is more options to make fan made campaigns that would be available by a workshop. Setting specific starting cards, for different situations, been able to play the team villains mode with less than 3 heroes/villains, having some kind of "survival mode" where you can set different villains to beat with a hero team.

Basically, more options to set up more specific scenarios.

As for a story mode, I'd be ready to pay different story pack if they make good efforts into it. Like a story mode covering different heroes, with their own story pack, same for various lore teams, like a Freedom (X) story, the Darkwatch, Prime Warden and the Sentinels. There is many options to enhance this game in depth, without having the need to add fan made decks.

I'm pretty happy with how Steam Workshop floats the good stuff to the top. The fact that Cauldron is out there gives me plenty of confidence that there'll be good content available.

Pretty excited for SoEP too, since that's also a full set.

#1 Most Wanted

The only other thing I would want is new content created for the digital version that doesn't exist physically, like new variants or environments.

Story Mode is the one thing I've wanted in the game ever since I first bought the game and was really confused there wasn't a campaign mode. And this desire has only increased after listening to the Letters Page and otherwise finding out all the lore.

Everything else I'm more or less neutral about. Getting to use fan-made variants would be potentially interesting and Earth Prime would mean more content, but I don't particularly need either of those things. And while I recognize other people would love console ports, I don't own any consoles currently and so am not personally invested in the topic.

Plus with consoles specifically I feel like the game would almost need to have Story Mode before being ported anyway just because of the different expectations for console gaming.

I put story mode first and coinsole port second(because I think it will be great for the game and give me another couple platforms to 100% because I am weird like that). I am neutral on fan content, it would be cool to see it but I don't need it. I actually am not a fan of the Cauldron decks. Would love to see the Earth Prime stuff to add content but I feel like the art styles are going to clash a lot.

My highest desire for that Vote was the Workshop, with Story being a close second. Workshop I think is the most important feature to add to really maximize the longevity of the game, not to mention that adding it can effectively add everything else they had listed (Story mode, SoEP, etc.) with the exception of Console ports of course.

I agree, workshop would be so good. I crave for those cauldron decks made for sotm digital. Cauldron alone might almost double the content we have now. Also I would like to see more team villians created through worshop.

I'm not saying i hate the idea of a workshop for the game...

I love the idea in theory... especially in the weekly one-shot or a story-mode like series of games, or Variant cards.

Its just that i dread all the bugs and weird and wild interactions that would introduce. Lots of people already get confused on how certain card interactions work or proceed. Mods (and i'm thinking of several cauldron decks with cool but unique play powers specifically) will just compound that.

And while i know the steam workshops curate... i just see it quickly becoming a mess.

Not to mention how it will impact those not playing on steam. How would phones/kindles/(possibly consoles) gain access in order for cross platform play to continue?

exactly, it's one of those things that sounds great on paper but when you actually make it, not so much.

Yeah, have the choice between 17 Captain America decks, all of them badly designed and not working because their makers lost interest ... I don't see this as a really great addition to the game.
