Villain Teams, how do they work? (Answered, need to know about difficulty now)
I'm planning on getting Season 2, but I wanna know how the "Villain Team" mechanics from Vengeance and Villains of the Multiverse work. Are they automatic like in standard game modes or are they played by other players?

EDIT
So nobody has to dig through this discussion

Thanks for all of the support guys. You all really went above and beyond the call of duty here. While I'm asking, who would you say is the easiest and hardest Team Villains to fight?

The main difference is that instead of the villain taking a turn followed by all of your heroes, in "Villain/Vengeance Style" the heroes and villains alternate turns. Basically, there is one villain for each hero.

one villain for every hero. Turn order goes Villain(1)-Hero(1)-Villain(2)-Hero(2)-Villain(3)-Hero(3)-Environment-Villain(1) etc. Still automatic.

The Vengeance style villians have lower hit points individually when compared to normal villians, but there are more of them. Just as the makeup of a hero team can offer synergies, so can the team of villians. It is fun to have a new way to play the game in addition to the new opponents.

And few if any cards have "H" in them. Difficulty is adjusted with MORE villains rather than villains hitting harder

Also many team villains have some of the "B" and "C" list bad guys from various card art as "NEMISIS" type targets. The Hippo has a Haka icon so they do extra damage to each other inherently but he also has text that makes him more dagerouse if Haka is in play.

Easiest? Depends on the team of heroes honestly.... though i tend to find Friction or Fright Train the easiest to bring down. Followed by the Operative from the Villains expansion.

I also find Plague Rat not to bad, provided you can keep his Handlers out of the game.

Again, just like it depends on your team of heroes, it really comes down to your team of villains. Certain villains synergize with each other better, like Citizens Hammer & Anvil alongside Challenge Mode Fright Train.

Hmmm. I like to play Greatest Legacy and Price of Freedom Wraith but I often get saddled with Dark Visionary or Team Leader Tachyon since my friends never seem to grasp the concept of draw support on Expatriatte and Mr Fixer or deck manipulation against Gloomweaver. One friend of mine likes Haka, Fanatic, and K.N.Y.F.E. and my other friend likes... I guess anything setup heavy but I can talk him in to playing The Sentinels or Omnitron-X sometimes. Any particularly good heroes or bad ones?

Good to know. Any other combos to look out for?

I find this is a nice and helpful community, generally.

If you are avoiding challenge for now, I would recommend against Ambuscade, Baron Blade, and (If you rely on setup heavy heroes) Ermine.

Most of the rest I have found to be sometimes easy, and sometimes hard. I personally find Miss Information and the Operative to be the easiest team villains.

Bugbear is weird. Because on his own he's not that much of a problem so long as you take him down first, but if you put him with say Hammer and Anvil or Greazer he becomes a lot harder. He's got Spite style healing and gets +1 to damage per incapped character, so that can snowball hard.

Sarge Steel is painful, but only has 20 health and next to no actual protection for himself, so he's mostly an early threat.

Biomancer is just a pain to kill, most of the time he doesn't do all that much, but he and Proletariat tend to outlast everyone else easily. Proletariat at least runs out of clones to hide behind, Biomancer just has passive -2 to first damage each turn and heals 2 on his turn.

Greazer falls into same category as Steel, but for different reasons. He's decently tough but highly focused on killing one hero and leaves once he has, so if things go well you kill him, if things go south he's gone, if things don't he can be beaten normally. Also really depends on who his nemesis for the game is. I hear he really is going to hate Akash'Thriya once Oblivaeon hits.
Omnitron-X/U does wonders if he's up against a particular-type-centric team. Putting him against Proletariat and Biomancer are especially good choices. For one, the Ablative Plating (Melee/Projectile/Toxic defense) basically shuts down just about all of Proletariat's damage down, and a good deal of Biomancer's as well. And if you can keep out his damage-dealing Component cards, then you can knock Biomancer out easy - especially if the first one up to the plate is a Plasma Cannon. 2 irreduccable damage to Biomancer at the start Omni's turn means you no longer have to worry about Bio's first-attack defense!
