How the hell does Guise work?
Every one of his Ongoing cards says "destroy this card at the start of your turn" Why is it not a one shot then? How can Guise do anything if he can only play one or two cards each turn then has to remove it from the game?

Most of those cards will generally provide some bonus out of turn. For instance, Blatant Reference allows him to discard a card each turn, to do 1 damage to 1 target. This also works well with e.g. Guise the Barbarian, which boosts his damage by 2.
Also, he doesn't necessarily only play one card per turn. His base power allows him to play a second card, and he has at least two ongoings which allow him to play more cards during other turns.

I think there is a comment thread somewhere about schenanigans Guise can do. Basically he likes to do things with other heros' stuff. He does a lot of out of turn stuff, which is why his cards are ongoings instead of one-shots.

I recomend playing him with Fixer, Argent Adept, or legacy to get a feel for him. He's weird and requires creativity but he is a lot of fun. Also helps to have disposible ongoings if that particular villain likes breaking your stuff.

Rule number one of Guise: build up a 15-30 card hand, depends on number of heroes and amount awesomeness you want to unleash.

His combos are achieved with either Super Ultra Kawaii or Selling Out (bonus points if you use both). Selling Out lets you play 3 cards at the end of the environment turn that share keywords with a card you discard, typically you use this to play ongoings. It is recommended to put Guise last so he gets full effect for these cards. Kawaii lets you play a card at the end of every hero turn (including Guise's own turn) as long as you have H cards in your hand.

Here is an example using both Kawaii and Selling Out with Guise in the last position. He has over half of his deck in his hand.

Guise's turn starts, he plays Best Card Ever! cause why not? Guise plays Kawaii. Guise uses Tough Choices deals one damage, plays Selling Out. Kawaii lets Guise play a card - Blatant Reference. Guise does not discard for Reference.

Enviro does worthless thing, Guise is the star here. Selling Out lets Guise discard XTreme, plays Guise the Barbarian, Total Beefcake, and Ughh Yeah...I'm that Guy and high fives Legacy (Inspiring Presence heals everyone!).

Villain does stuff like try to hit Guise, Guise redirects it to villain with lowest hp - who would want to hurt such a beauty?

First hero takes turn, whatever, Super Ultra Kawaii lets Guise play a card, Guise plays Where Did That Come From? hits a villain for 3 (one shot) +2 (Barbarian) +1 (Presence) +1 (Presence) Blatant Reference lets Guise discard a card, he discards Gimmicky Character deals a villain 1 (Reference) + 2 + 1 + 1 damage. Repeat for all other heroes until start of Guise's next turn.

Congrats, you are awesome. Set up for the next time. If you want to make Guise the star of the show, bring Team Leader Tachyon, regular or PW Argent Adept, Greatest or Finest Legacy, and anyone else just to give Guise an extra turn with his ongoings.

You do not need that many cards in hand unless you are trying to have enough cards plays for using both Super Ultra Kawaii!! And Sellling Out!

Anyways to the OP here is a guide I wrote out http://sentinelswiki.com/index.php?title=Guise_Strategy

Guise and Stuntman will almost exclusively work only during other players turn it's them 'stealing the show.'

Guise's ongoings can also stay out a bit longer if "fixxed point" is in play or if he "skipps the rest of his turn" at the start

The second one depends. A card like Self Destruct Sequence would have to be in play before Guise played his Ongoings otherwise the check for their destruction would occur before the option to skip your turn would occur.

Guise really loves out-of-turn power use opportunities, because (a) his power is pretty great and (b) it lets him stack up ongoings without having Super Ultra Kawaii out.

Blatant Reference is not too impressive...until you stack it with Guise the Barbarian.

So heroes like Greatest Legacy or Argent Adept who can regularly deal him extra power uses are very welcome.

I usually put Guise first rather than last - that way he can play out the full weight of Blatant Reference or Super Ultra Kawaii before the villain turn hits. Last might be better if you're planning on leaning on Selling Out to play ongoings...which is a new one to me, I've never had much use for that card.

I use Selling Out probably as much as Super Ultra Kawaii!! and maybe more. You can even combo one Selling Out into another with Retcon and play even more cards. Super Ultra Kawaii!! is better for setting up other Ongoings whereas Selling Out works better for playing multiple one-shots but what you do varies game to game.

Honestly we could have a weekly live stream that's just about Guise and all the things he can do.
powerhound_2000 May 7, 2017 @ 4:02pm
You could spend multiple streams about Guise and what he can accomplish.

Using it for one-shots was obvious enough, but I don't tend to need the help to get Guise' one-shots played...

I've pulled out a lot of damage and/or prevented the environment from triggering something on its turn with a Retcon. Selling Out also doesn't care how many cards you have in hand so it can always be used to get out particular combos. In conjunction with Super Ultra Kawaii!! it just means I get more use out of what I've played. I find it just as worthwhile as Super Ultra Kawaii!!

My point is that I almost never have occasion to sit on a bunch of Guise one-shots. He can play two or more on his own turn before getting help from anyone else. Selling Out doesn't help you play one-shots if you don't have any in hand because you already played them.
powerhound_2000 May 7, 2017 @ 5:59pm
If you're drawing regularly you should have options to combo off of Selling Out and Guise the Barbarian or X-Tremeeeee!! Otherwise I don't see how you see good use out of Super Ultra Kawaii!! either. At this point I'm just going to chalk this down to different play styles but most games I find that I can hold onto some one-shots to play off of Selling Out.
