Skipping the Angel Weapons should allow us to change the story
Without spoilers, I think that skipping the angel weapons (by not talking to the angels leading to the boss rooms) in the early bunch of boss levels should let us alter how the story plays out. Like an alternate path in a Visual Novel, or in Cave Story with the Jet Pack.

I really liked the side characters. I thought they added more breadth to the setting, and I'd like some way to keep them alive

I understand that this would require a lot of writing and programming from the citadeldev, but it feels like this is almost an obvious direction to take the game, since using the angel weapons is technically optional. I've already seen people on image boards ask if skipping angel weapons would change the story so it's almost as if people who play a lot of doujinsoft expect it.

That just might add even more carnage to when Xenon breaks in around intermission V. Maybe one of them can be laying on the ground, using the last of their dying breath to tell you what the heck is going on, AND THEN, turn into an angel weapon for the surprise boss fight. Would be an easy, if not really freakin' cruel way to switch things up accordingly.
While I do appreciate the different characters and perspectives they give us.
None of them are quite as cute as tycho ever was.

yeah, we should be able to save them if we opt to not use the weapons for the boss fight

it should be a choice like "do you require my assistance?", then they die and drop as a weapon if you choose yes or they get to live if you choose no
I tried to do a no angel-weapon run just now and fancyname flechette autodeathcannon broke and locked me out of all my weapons. I had to punch Justice to death. Also, discovered the mines don't trigger with him for some reason.

...And you can air combo him into the air with punches its funny actually.

What? Should be able to just use your mouse wheel to switch to another weapon if it breaks, lol. That's what I did anyway.

If push comes to shove, next time just open the weapon menu, dump the broken weapon, then swap to a different gun that way.

I tried everything it was a really nasty bug. Killing the boss and activating exterminatus device fixed it though.
in one of the chapters. everyone on the ship is killed.
in the first part one of the angels became possessed.

and even if the developer adds consequences
then the angels will still die or become possessed like in the first part

no happy ending, this is not "my little pony"
we are finally arranging the second end of the world

brother, nobody is asking for "my little pony", lol

if you're all going to die anyway, then at least having everyone alive when it happens would STILL be a better alternative than just dying on your own, man

this can't be the only way
all on topic, death as a way to express emotions. Block. I will read less nonsense
A classic trope of tragedies is that the actions of the main protagonist's, struggle to change fate only pulls them deeper towards it.

you are assuming your friends have a reason to or even want to live beyond helping you achieve your goal

stumbled into this thread but think this is an awesome idea. i actually didn't use the first angel iron and was confused as to why they disappeared when i got to the intermission following the boss

You need to learn how to talk to people

it seems like people are having trouble understanding the story. Not using them and keeping them alive would be incredibly cruel. As for the Organa, maybe they could live at the inn but I'm think the entire situation is manufactured for the martyr to override logic and produce a certain outcome.

I really don't think the Matyr's actions would've changed with or without the Organa's deaths, she seems hellbent on getting the relics from the Trumpeters no matter what due to them being related to her little brother.

The only thing that might've affected things is the fact that their deaths lead to Sister Atla the Medium to merge with Krone's remains and find Xenon's location with the expanded sensors. Your theory of the deaths being planned to produce a certain outcome has merit but I don't see how it would steer the Martyr in any particular direction more than the dream sequences already do.
