api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l1-2-0.dll was not found when trying to launch Redeem.exe (East European retail release)
This issue and a workaround for it was posted a couple of times in different threads, but I thought, seeing that Nixxes started to look at the forum, to have this as a separate thread.

As far as I know - this issue seems to be limited to East European retail release of a game, which requires you to type in a serial key into a Redeem.exe program, which in turn returns a Steam key for a game. The issue is quite serious, as the program requires a d3d11.dll to work properly (which should be read from your system directory). Unfortunately the disc comes with d3d11.dll taken from Windows 8.1 (may be the same as the one from Win 10) bundled in a folder where Redeem.exe is located, which results in the libary from a DVD being used instead of a one from the system - this in turn makes the Redeem.exe crash on all of the Windows 7 machines, as the Windows 8.1 version of d3d11.dll uses api-ms-win-core-libraryloader-l1-2-0.dll, which is not present in Windows 7 version of a system.

Below is a step by step workaround, which I also posted on on PCGamingWiki[pcgamingwiki.com].

  1. Insert the Disc1 of DXMD.
  2. Go to Computer, right click on the drive with the DVD of the game and choose Open (note the drive letter for later).
  3. Copy files: game.bmp, gui.bmp, Redeem.exe and Redeem.ini to a folder on your hard drive.
  4. Create a shortcut to Redeem.exe on your hard drive.
  5. Right click on newly created shortcut and choose Properties.
  6. In a shortcut tab, change Start in: location to X:\ where X is your DVD drive letter (e.g. if your Disc1 of a game is located in a drive F, then type in F:\).
  7. Start Redeem.exe using a shortcut.

This hopefully should allow those of you on Windows 7 to obtain a Steam key for your game. The rest is easy.

If you need this in a form of a video, you can watch this:

Hope this lets you guys get your Steam keys, until either Nixxes or Square comes up with a more professional solution for this issue. If possible - I'd ask moderators to pin this thread and also activate Tech Support sub forum.

What are you talking about? The game isn't out yet.

I had that exact problem with my retail copy and this guide certainly helped me.

Thanks for the info, Quick question though; How many GBs of the game files is on the disc itself?

I have sh*tty internet in the US and am having to buy the Euro Day One retail version because consumer protections in the U.S. of A. is complete sh*t, and companies can cut corners at consumer expense with impunity.

If like even half the game was on disc that would just be wonderful.
