About the accuracy - facts about real Prague
First and foremost, let me tell you that this game, despite all of it's problems is a good one. Not sure if it's an improvement over Human Revolution, but it's allright at least.

But the main problem I got with it is a portrait of the Prague as a city. I was born in Prague and let me tell you that the population doesn't look anything like that. Also the architecture is clearly different and even in the year 2026 or so - Prague will not look like that at all.

But what pisses me the most is the portrayal of a typical czech person in the game.

Firstly - I know the research was done by a guy flown to Prague for a week or so. So he can get only a limited taste of what a country and city feels like. But let me tell you this:

1) Czech people don't speak with a russian accent - Our language, although slavic of origin is a very different beast from russian, so we don't have an accent whilst speaking english, because vocalization and pronounciation is clearly different from russian. So all those people speaking like bulgarians or russians, ukrainians etc. - this is totally wrong.

2) We don't wear tracksuits. Mostly. - Czech rep. is trying to catch the train that was postponed by the Russian government for 60 years. But we are catching up. Our universities are amongst the 100 of the world quite constantly and Charles uni is frequently sought out by many students abroad. Our medical research personel is very successful in pitching ideas all across the globe and helping a good deal with a battle against cancer. We are using all the social media outlets (yes Instagram and reddit involved sadly), we are having the latest iPhones here, as well as all the global brands and newest theatrical flicks. And yes - british people - we have flushable toilets. Surprising in 21st century, eh?

So portraying the people as being a somewhat developed country full of filth, corruption and russian gangs is clearly something out of this planet. And we don't wear tracksuits. Some slavic minorities do, but they are only that - minorities. Streets are not filled with them.

The only difference between us and other western countries are our salaries at the moment. But we are trying to improve on that as well. And also people who still love communism apparently. But those will die out eventually.

3)There's a plenty of people who don't know how to speak english, but the younger generations, thanks to the school programs, movies, series and games are quite ok in this regard. Sure, some of us are better than the others, but most of the time you can communicate quite well with the (especially younger czech) people. Despite that, game clearly portraits the average czech person as ignorant russian hack. Not realistic at all.

4) The "czech" in this game is wrong. Plain and simple wrong.

It's amazing that the team actually hired czech people to do native language voiceovers (although without any substance, so there are people speaking czech and "bulgarian" english talking to each other as NPCs), but what puzzles me, is, they didn't bother to advise the team on the names. The use of czech in this game is wrong, because for example - shop named "Koníčky a hráčky" should be named "Koníčci a hračky". There is a number of times when they've used voiceovers and those are of quality. It really makes me wonder why some of the stuff was written by someone who wasn't czech of origin and thus is wrong.

All things considered. This is another time (counting in COD: Modern Warfare 3) that portraits Prague and portraits it as it was a Moscow. Next time, I'd like to ask of Canadian developers to please exclude the city if they aren't willing to properly research the place. Maybe they ran into some non-english speaking people, that is obviously possible. But you can manage that in France, and most definitely in French part of Canada too.

Merci Beaucoup, mes amis!

Maybe you should consider some in-game facts.

Prague had a lot of immigration due to aug-favoritism, so you have russian / ukrainian / ... immigrants (neighbour states).
And you have to add Aug-crisis that made augs mad, if you remember about Panchaia Chaos, you can easily imagine in such a city how was chaos. So people became instantly poor because of rebuilding, and most of rich people may have been augs.
And finally you have to consider Dvali's story, if i remember well, they dont come from Prague, but i'm not sure. But anyway, it's important to understand how they can describe Prague inhabitants like poor people under mafia's law. If you add this to chaos, it's easier to be controlled by such mafias when the country has been weakened by aug-crisis.

Your point of view is interesting, but some of "defaults" are not. It's scenaristic.

Sorry for my bad english, i'm from France :p

Interesting points, I still don't know why would all those immigrants move to Prague of all of the cities and countries.

The way I see it - Eidos Montreal wanted some "exotic" third world country. And yes, Prague was like this.. 30 years ago. The odds of it being like that in 2025 and onward.. that's a huge artistic licence.

Nowadays, especially the centre of the Prague is filled with classic mixture of global brands, luxurious shopping malls and expensive cars. So this fantasy of the rest of the world is really not justified anymore.

Also we are not neighbours with Russia or Ukraine. But with Austria, Germany, Poland (sadly) and Slovakia (sadly x2)

Whenever games are set in America they make us all inbred hicks or hood gangsters. Don't let innaccuracy upset you. Or maybe Americans just have thick skin from the rest of the world throwing the same boring sterotypes at us for decades. You'll get used to it fam, I'm sure the devs didn't mean any harm.

It's fictious, near sci-fi and a form of entertainment.

When was it meant to be accurate...?

you should see how developers depict my country in their games.

There are still ignorant gamers who think that Brazil is all about Blanka stage and carnivals.

Interesting. One would think you'd prefer that colourful carnival-ish depiction over, you know, reality:

Like in Max Payne 3.

It's an alternative world that suffered massive world changing events and I'm pretty sure the immigration there has been super open, so all kind of nationalities ended up in the city. It's a cyberpunk so high tech low life principles guide the world. And because everyone thinks that augs are terrorists and monsters they are reduced to bums and have crap clothes and dirty faces looking for food in the trash can.

Point #1, russian accent can be heard when you are in Dvali territory since they are georgian/russian.

Point #4, representing languages other than English has always been a problem in movies and games, so it's just something we have to live with for now.

Noooow, I see!
1. you are Czech
2. the Czech Rep. is superior to its slavic neighbors and other slavic people. More like western germanic countries.

Inferiority complex at its finest, quite common in east europe

Nah, it's where we are realistically trying to go towards now. Even with our (hopefully) new president. Feel free to visit centre of the Prague, you will see for yourself. No tracksuit or cvka blvat needed!
