A few questions on Alderman mission
1. Could we do a few Alderman mission simultaneously? I think I've read somewhere on the net that we could do this (I might be wrong - hence seeking the confirmation here)...but on my screen the current mission is 'locked on' and I can't select a new mission.

2. How profitable is completing the 'Land Route' mission? I've never do it and quite intrigue to find out if there's any monetary rewards to it.

Thank you :D

I believe that you can only work on one Alderman's task at a time. I know that you can't build 2 towns at the same time.

I have always found the land routes to be underwhelming. You can only send a small amount of goods in a single caravan and you have to hire guards or risk losing your goods to bandits. You can try it for yourself if you want. There is a land route from Luebeck to Hamburg that is available at the beginning of the game. As soon as you have a trading post in each of those towns you can use it. Try it out for yourself and see if you feel they are worthwhile or not.

Thanks Knight for your insight. I'm currently building a few crayers as the Land Route missions require me to sail into river-based cities like Torun or Novgorod.

Couldn't wait to try it out and find out how much the reward will be, lol.

I've never seen anyone mention being able to do two alderman missions. Maybe they meant tavern missions?

No alderman mission gives any particular reward, other than reputation and career advancement. You gain something as a side bonus, like the ships and gold you can capture during the pirate missions, or the profits from building a new town.

You might get some payment for the goods you deliver to the building sites, although I'm not sure. You might be building it out of your own pocket. You also don't need crayers, you can deliver the goods in Stettin at the town gate.

As for the route itself, it's not usually worth using them. They have a limited capacity and cost a lot. You can send goods much more easily and safely using ships. They can be worth using in the North, where ports can freeze. But the ports unfreeze in two weeks, and if the town was well supplied, it should be fine anyway.

The river based city you want to get to is Cologne. It supplies lots of wine fairly cheaply and demand for it is relatively high (all starting cities but Groningen and Luebeck want wine.) You can also find (from time to time) a large amount of spices (50-100 units) that some computer player dumped in the city and can pick it up cheaper than buying it in the Med. You take a tiny reputation hit for doing that but the rep you gain selling it to the other towns more than makes up for it.

So today I fast forward my game while undertaking the Land Route mission, and found it not be beneficial :steammocking:

  • it takes a large amount of Bricks/ Timber/ IG and Hemp
  • the timeline is quite tight; I started the mission during September, immediately deliver ALL the goods to Stetting Town Gate, and it took 3/4 months to build the route, not including the barn. The mission dateline is 29 February, and the barn (of both Stettin and Torun) only completed during the final week of the dateline.
  • no monetary rewards like AIP said, only Rep :p

This is the pop-up video that will play once the mission is completed:

I was trying to find out which Alderman mission can produce large amount of money, unfortunately they are none BAR the 'Found New Town' mission, but this mission could only be completed twice (sad).

Okay, no more Alderman mission after this, except if a wanted Pirate happen to sail in front one of my convoys (lol)

You're right. I think I misread the post and mistaken them as Alderman missions (while actually its the Tavern mission).

Previously I thought I need to send the goods to both towns, but now after trying it out it seems I could send the goods to either of the cities.

That being said, I'm going to stick with my businesses and trading. They earn me more income lol.
Now instead of undertaking the 'Hunt Pirate Nest' mission, I just created a convoy full of armed ships and attack towns. Its more profitable this way (I attacked Stettin once and managed to loot 1m gold) :steamhappy:

Agree Knight. Previously I always have a ship or two based in Cologne just to buy the Wine there.

..but that all changed once Windau is founded, its now my Wine heaven haha
