LISA
what did you think of buddy as a charter in the dlc
i personally kinda dipsied her she came off as a psychopath and was a very unlikable charter in a sense no better than yado but i guess she was kind off well written as she has a insestring motivation and personalty

I found her character arc off-putting initially, but I think it makes sense, especially in hindsight after reflecting on the series for a bit. Still, definitely hard to identify with; her ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up qualities are very apparent from the start of Joyful, compared to Painful where we spent some time with Brad before his deeply flawed nature really started becoming apparent.

I liked it. Lisa has been kidnapped, mutilated and and held prisoner by tons of people. She was forced to kill several people by Brad while she was a small child, then watched her incredibly troubled father figure tear through hundreds of people to "save" her when she didn't want to be. Every single person in the world is a threat of rape to her except Rando, Brad and her uncles.

The only way she can be safe is to be stronger than everyone and make them scared of her.

She really made me angry with her decisions. I wanted to punch the little brat for how she treated Rando and human life......and I loved every second of it. A character that you can actually feel emotion towards, means it is a good character. Most writers can't do this kind of thing. So I have to say I quite like what Dingaling did with Buddy.

She kind of reminded me of Lil' Dice/Lil' Ze from City of God, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up person who is the way he is due to the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up place he was born and grew up in.

Just so you know, Lisa is Brad's sister that commits suicide somewhere between Lisa: The First and Lisa: The Painful. The girl you play as in Lisa: The Joyful is called Buddy.

I think the whole theme of LISA's story, throughout all the games, is to demonstrate how hard it is to overcome darkness. Brad's father's darkness spread to Brad and Lisa, Lisa's darkness spread to Buzzo, and despite Brad's efforts, it spread to Buddy as well. Despite his efforts, Brad wasn't able to overcome himself, and passed on the very same hatred and loathing that both he and his father held at their core in an failed attempt to keep Buddy from turning out as miserable as him. Buddy's character fits the next incarnation of this dark trail perfectly IMO.

Dingaling said himself in an interview that his inspiration for the series was that he met a girl who had problems with her father, and no matter what he said or did her problems would still affect their relationship. That made him realize that sometimes in real life, things suck, and theres no way there would be a happy ending for it. So yea your guess is good ^^

Also, Buddy took some joy in Lisa the Painful. This is what fuels many of her actions as well. Yes, she is unlikable, there's no denying that... you could even say she's off her rocker. However, abuse repeats itself. Brad unwittingly created a remorseless killing machine. This is exactly what Yado's plan was all about, and you could say that he, in fact, came out victorious.

I liked the amount of hate I felt for her. It's something games should do more often. Putting players into the shoes of someone who can't do a right decision even if they tried is always better than being given "Do good" or "Do bad" decisions. It might be an RPG but it doesn't mean you should be in full control of your characters personality.

I really liked her. Her actions were believable considering what she had been through. I think she was well written.
