Full Circle Restructure

This will likely be the last time I post in the discussion forum for SKATE, gets pretty out of pocket in here.

Firstly, condolences to anyone losing their job during the re-structure, I've personally been there and it honestly sucks. People tend to forget that there are real human beings on the other end of these things, so, sincerely, keep your heads up and look to the future, life is all chapters and sometimes they finish up a bit sooner than you'd like or expect but it is usually never the end of the road.

1. Is the game dead? Maybe? Hopefully not, with a bit of luck there is a bit more focus and refinement about to take place on the project. I remain hesitantly optimistic that with the feral out cry of the fanbase and the absolute bashing EA has taken publicly, they can no longer ignore the mishandling of the franchise entry and just how unsatisfied the consumer base is.

2. Worst case scenario this is either EA or Full Circle's own upper management throwing Full Circle staff under the bus and creating some distance and putting on a public show of separation from the current development team. It is common in the corporate sphere to have public sacrificial lambs that take the fall for mistakes on behalf of executive and managment decisions. Undoubtedly there will be a bit of that, but I do sincerely hope that it is a focused effort to tighten the vision and rework the product into a more skate culture focused, there are certainly many examples of what works and what doesn't that already exist.

Whether this is a new chapter of focused development or truly the beginning of the end, I'll still be getting clips for videos, because that is a hobby I sincerely enjoy.

Furthermore, this game, making clips, researching skateboarding history for my upcoming video and developing that feedback report all contributed to me dusting off my old skateboard and landing a kickflip for the first time in 10 years..... And have now just kickflipped and bailed on my brand new DGK complete set-up, at 36 I am back into actually skating properly again. So a thank you is due for this games part in that.

Well, that will do it, just think about what Coach Frank would say, probably something like "Don't hate, just skate.", that's what I am going to do.

I'll just say this, I genuinely believe there were people inside the studio who cared deeply about the craft and wanted to make the game fundamentally better, but they weren’t given the runway, authority, or cultural acceptance to push those improvements through. So the people who wanted to make the game better only to be laid off is just disappointing.

If there was ever a time to pull a "no mans sky" I guess this would be it. The frustrating part of all of this is that the core gameplay is great. I feel it wouldn't take a lot to turn the game around.

There's a massive playerbase playing on console and old-gen, it's just Steam charts which are low af.

Evidence for what you are claiming ?

The PS4 data is not as abysmal as Steam

One of those had the proper stats for current SKATE. PS4 console data, I couldn't find anything for Xbox

To be fair I play with cross-play enabled on Steam and it always has players

Crossplay disabled is a whole different story, I've been solo a couple of times and most I've seen for a bit is 5, max...

It's not great all round though

I feel id better get big time clip farming now, thats easily my favourite thing after the skating itself.....

Not going to lie, it would be mint to see a glorious comeback but it pays to remain realistic

Think about it scientifically.
Try fitting 165 people into a Ford Focus. No way. Just not possible.
Therefore 165 is a huge number, some might even say massive.

Massive is pushing it but you can see for yourself and work it out, just go online and look at the breakdown of the server you are in. Do this a few times, its always the same

Steam is always vastly outnumbered, we worked out about 7% of players are steam so about 10 players of 150 players in a server. So if there are 2000 online on steam there's over 25k online.
