Game crashes when opening inventory
Just had this issue where every time i try to open my invetory it crashes my game. I was invaded twice before this issue happened, both time in Lost Bastille & the invaders never fully spawned in, they got stuck in the floor & items were automatically added to my inventory, I did not willingly pick up any item.

Now every time i launch the game it closes after five seconds. Ive made it to my invetory a few times at first bc i thought it was just crashing after extensive play but every time i got a glance of my inventory the slots were either blank with bleed effect icons or were daggers with bleed effects. The items with bleed effect, both blank/daggers took up three rows of inventory space.

If there is anybody that can help me resolve this issue that would be sweet, this is my first playthrough, i dont use cheats or mods & im fairly certain i am almost done with the game & would be happy to move on to DS3 after i complete it

If not, im just not going to even try starting again & trying to finish, i already started off having a bad time & was actually making improvment on how i was playing it to the point i got to. Idc what opinions people might have if i dont try to finish this game, i would love to try & beat it but dont have the patience to even sit through all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ again.

If you want to fix your save, there's some hoops to jump through. If you want some help, shoot me a message as I'm not sure if links to CE stuff are kosher.
If you want to stop it from happening again, there's a utility called Blue Acolyte that both supposedly stops this as well as makes backups of your saves to rollback if something happens again.

A note, I believe this issue still exists in DS3 and a similar tool exists there as well to help prevent it.

Hopefully the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gets deleted, but he's been very active this evening it seems.

Hey there, Margaret here, beta tester for Blue Acolyte.

There is currently a player force-injecting illegal items into people's inventories, causing the game to crash.

First, I would recommend anyone reading this install the "Blue Acolyte" mod off of the Nexus page, or the github fork. I will provide a link to the Nexus page at the end of this post.

MAKE SURE YOU ARE OFFLINE BEFORE FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE. This can be done by navigating to the top left of the steam client, clicking "Steam" > "GO OFFLINE". To go back online, simply repeat these steps.

It appears that the only way to remove these items currently is to use the public Cheat Engine table, which can be acquired from the Dark Souls community Discord, which I will also link at the end of this post. Make sure you have the current build of Cheat Engine installed (version 7.4 as of 4/12/2024). To remove the items, launch Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin, and load the effected character. Next, open the Cheat Engine table(DS2_SotFS_Bob_Edition.CT), and it will automatically link to your active instance of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. In the lower section, click "Open - Table v4.7.4" > "Scripts" > "Misc" > "+14 Crash Protection". Once this is enabled, this will prevent the game from crashing due to the +14 Bleed Daggers in your inventory. From here, you should now be able to go in and remove them. To hasten the process, select one of the items, and hit "Discard Selected", and you can mass select the items to be discarded.

If this does not work, feel free to message me and we can work on another solution.

Thanks, you saved my arse! Before I noticed that this happened to me I was invaded a night before by a dude that seemingly got me instantly killed and broke all me equipment.
Would it be safe to assume that this was the guy who also put the items in my equipment?

Most likely not. Crashing people's games or trying to brick their saves is far more serious than simply breaking your gear or insta-killing you, and doing the former can lead to a full Steam account ban.
