Someone, please, tell me why some bosses can hit me from a billion miles away.
I would love to know.

The weapons sometimes clearly do not even connect to me whatsoever and yet I get hit. Why?

Which boss? The only one that I can think of that severely suffers from this is the fume knight's thrust attack with is regular sword. That thing spawns a buss sized hitbox in front of him.

All of them, most of which I can deal with. Even guardian dragon's is broken, but Fume Knight has it the worst I think. Mirror knight, pursuer, anything with a sword...

Mirror knight's sword hitbox is among the best though? Except for the lightning attacks( which are aoe hits with two hitboxes and hits for lightning and the sword, you will die even with denial if the first hitting one "kills" you the second will finish you), as long as he doesn't start a swing with you clipping through the sword you are generally safe if you don't get hit by it physically.

Are you dodging into the strike or away? They can hit you in the later stages of your roll.

Guardian dragon has stomps which are shock wave moves to an extent and the explosions of the fireballs are about the only oversize piece.

Fume is pretty decent beyond the stab attack with the regular sword, the hitboxes seem pretty clean, but some of hits are very wide sweeping so dodging behind him might get you hit by the back swing.

Pursuer? He is pretty much perfect, I have never experienced a ghost hit from him. The only real wide hitting attacks are the running uppercut slash which is a cakewalk to dodge. just stick to his shield and he'll run right passed you.

Every so often with the smelter demon I am very clearly not under the weapon and it still pancakes me. Sometimes there is some phantom range on weapons.

Dodge with your iFrames and you never get hit...
Cent Jun 1, 2015 @ 5:14pm
Not sure how new you are, but getting your AGL (Agility) up increases your iFrames (invincibility time) during a roll. You can get your agility up by increasing your ADP (Adaptability) and ATN (Attunement) However, some attacks completly negate these iFrames. But that is only in PvE.

I'm as new as 400+ hours between the Souls games. I know how iframes work.

if you think bosses has insane hitboxes i can't wait to see you dealing with lances in pvp
Fentanyl Barbie Jun 1, 2015 @ 5:43pm
Lances are the worst, as are katanas.
Actually I can complain about pretty much every thrust weapon.
Actually, I can complain about every weapon.

the best fight for me was Aava, I dodged his bite attack and BÄM I was teleported in his mouth- after 3 seconds *hell yeah*
and hitboxes with lances in PvP :X

I always say, "its not the hitboxes, its the visuals". The core mechanic is that you have to dodge perfectly with your iFrames, if you dont you get hit, even if you visualy dont get hit at all. A very good example for this is the pursuer with his curse attack. If you dodge it badly he will always damage you but he never hits you visually. If you you dodge badly, he should change the direction of his attack to actually hit you, but he never does that.

Only hitbox issue I've seen against Raime is the fact that his combo'd thrust attack with the FUGS can hit people that are directly behind him for no reason. Other than that, his hitboxes are perfectly fine. (That's my main co-op location)

Hitboxes are fine. People always seem to assert an angle because they won't blame themselves.
Jill Jun 2, 2015 @ 10:49am
the only time hitboxes are a problem is when they last too long on an attack, which happens on Aava's paw swings and Velstadt's hammer, but those don't matter when you roll the right way.
every other hitbox is fine. stop rolling badly.

Step 1: Learn to time your rolls
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit
