Ah. My casting speed is more or less maxed. Thats probably why I'm not seeing the difference.
Depends on if you can do more damage than the two crystal spears with soul spears having spent less or equal time in the casting animation.
For example (not real numbers):
If crystal spears do say, 2600 damage total for two spears and you spent 6 seconds casting them vs soul spears taking 2 seconds each for 3 spears and only doing 2400 dmg for 6 seconds worth of casting time. The crystal would come out better. So someone needs to actually get in the game and get the numbers to figure this out.
-It's got a high cast speed, which makes it easier to use it in the middle of combat. With full investment (including wearing the cast speed ring), it's faster than most melee attacks.
-Of all the other "highest-damage projectile" spells, it's the only one that is easily farmable to fill your attunement slots with (Sunlight Spear is limited to 1/character, Forbidden Sun is 1/playthrough).
