Belfry Gargoyles NG+ Advice for low level character
Title says it all really, I've got a lvl24 / 59k SM character that I'm trying to beat the gargoyles on NG+1 with to get that gold serpent +2 ring.

As one might imagine it's not going amazingly well.

The NPC summon isn't helping, he does poor damage which he spreads around the gargoyles, aggroing more unecessarily. Add to that the fact he dies fast, doesn't even provide enough of a distraction for me to land hits more often and his mere presence reduces the damage I can inflict myself and it's not good. As for non-NPC summons... there are none, I'm simply too low level to see anyone else there - hell, I don't even get invaded when loitering in the bell tower.

My build is vanquisher's seal, chloranthy ring +1, ring of blades +1 and of course the agape ring. Basically no armour to keep me light on my feet and I've got engraved gauntlets. I'm using the drangleic shield for its full physical damage resist. I don't have any attunement slots, nor the INT or FTH to make use of most spells. Naturally my weapon is my fist which I can land solid damage with, ~300 on the gargoyles.

So far my best attempt was done solo during which I took down one gargoyle before the pain train caught up with me and this involved a lot of holding my shield up, running away and waiting for opportune strikes on a single target.

I've given a ranged attempt a shot but only do ~50 damage per hit and don't have the benefit of quick shield access.

Any suggestions? Preferably ones that don't involved raising my SM higher.
Or maybe someone low level enough is prepared to come give me a hand?

Yis it will be very hard. I remember doing it myself for CGSR+2 on a char with the exact same SM as yours. I had to get a phantom at the end.
PM me if you need help, I have a twink char at 50k. The fight will get 100 times easier with it.

Thanks for the offer. I'll wait a bit, see if anyone has any more pointers that I can try first but I'll probably end up taking you up on that offer hahah

As for advice, that's not what I did, but get a 100% phys defense shield and an upgraded poking weapon (a spear or a halberd will do). The just run from corner to corner, and you'll finish them eventually.

@WNxBligglenuber, I know exactly what you mean! This strategy isn't really available, because the Agape Ring and the manner in which it changes the game is a rather "newer" concept. I don't think many could foresee the number of challenges that keeping SM low would present.

I think I have a good idea of why you want this ring, but you first have to be honest about how broken it will be if you actually get it. With that said, I believe this specific fight isn't about "skill". This fight is solely based around dishing out punishment and being able to take it~ but reducing what you can.

You'll probably need to upgrade so kind of armor or weapon before coming here, even changing you stats around a bit with a soul vessel. I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but as a person who has beaten these a**hole, in the spirit of making a guide for certain builds, I can tell you right now, trying to "out-skill" this Boss is a futile effort.

Trust me~ just change your stats around a bit so you can take decent punishment, get a heavy hitting weapon that's upgraded, and just trade hits with them until they go down. That's the only legit and reliable way to beat these guys, or else keep trying until you get lucky? Good luck tho! :3

>Heavy hitting weapon
What would you recommend? I'd have thought just using VS would be the best bet, especially since it frees up weight for heavier armour.
@WNxBligglenuber, don't get me wrong, the Vanquishers Seal is good~ it's convenient and arguably little investment involved when it comes to having to collect upgrade materials. The only issues is~ it requires you to get uncomfortably close to a Boss you need to control distance with. If you're working on strength, I say keep the seal, but you'll need other options, like maybe a Great Club.

The problem with this Boss is that you need to be patient, but you also need to be doing constant damage, even if it's only by a little bit. One way or another, you simply HAVE to invest in beating this Boss, there's no "get outta jail free card" here. You need options, and if that means collecting 99/99 'Witching Urns', Getting Havel's Shield (physical and elemental resist) or some equivalent, that's simply what you gotta do.

You 'have' to set your character up in a way that gives you as many advantages in this fight as possible, because in the end, these things are gonna be the "razor-thin-margin" by which you win the fight. Get a good number of Urns if you can, farm them if possible, use whatever weapon benefits your build; I personally used the Drakeblood GS for this fight. Get your fire resistance up, use Burrs if you have to (these can be farmed from Undead Prisoners).

If I recall correctly~ in the new version of the game you have, getting the Dull Ember is as easy as defeating Pursuer in Forest of Fallen Giants. I'm not sure how far in the game you are, but collecting items will be in a different order I'm not totally familiar with. If you can find a way to fight this Boss while hiding behind a shield, pecking at it's health, and tossing out Urns when you're at a distance (because Urns don't use stamina), this fight won't be as difficult. :3 #goodLuck

P.S. Keep the seal, unless there is a better ring you can equip. Your barefist can still be useful, but it shouldn't be the only weapon you have in this fight, as this fight is much too unpredictable to limit your own range to just 'CQC'.

I've only got the Rotten Soul of the four bosses to defeat right now, I've got ugprade materials coming outta my ears hahah.
I'll probably pimp a spear, grab some armour and give it another shot then.

My SM is around 250K and I have just as many issues. I am using Santier's Spear +3.
VIG 20
END 20
VIT 20
STR 20
DEX 22
ADP 22
I am currently -50K to those sons of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

If you're still having a frustrating time try running back and forth from one end of the roof to the other to egg the gargoyles into attacking and then getting a strike in when one is exposed and the others are still on recovery animations from their previous attack pattern. Very slow but some success if you're all out of options.
