B-but I've been limiting to 30FPS all this time. Was my enjoyment all a lie!? :C
Its increased degredation to increase difficulty....
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP SAYING ITS A GLITCH......
look at the damn code....its functioning exactly how it was writen to.
If you really think it was written to base the durability loss of the weapons on framerate (as in "on an entirely arbitrary number"), then OK. But I don't think you're correct.
Anyway, the easiest way to limit framerate, if one finds that acceptable, is by using MSI Afterburner. In its OSD module, there's a setting to cap your framerate (there's also one in the main module, but that only limits the framerate when recording video, so you don't want that one).
download it
go to settings to the on screen display
click on "more"
enter 30 in the "framerate limit" and save it
leave the program open and start ds2 to play the game in 30fps as it was meant to be played
Its written like that but do you really think they intended to have fps make a difference? Are you retarded?
Its written like that because it was easier to code for consoles and since they were limited to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ low fps anyway, it wouldnt matter.
On pc however it does, they didnt realise that before it was to late.
If they fix it now, its only half a year to late imo :P
And yet, they're fixing it in an upcoming patch. The difference between 30fps and 60fps is remarkable in terms of weapon durability, and is clearly not intentional as it is. Particularly, in enemy heavy areas with large weapons.
An example- I just ran thru NG+ FotFG, from the tower bonfire in a large circle, killing every enemy rather sloppily (including 2 bosses) without resting. I had to repair my cestus' (what is the plural of cestus??) once. On the flipside, I loaded my tanky char up, who was in NG++ brightstone cove ZOMG SPIDERS bonfire. pulled all the spiders, and swung away- approximately 10 enemies (and corpses) and I got the weapon warning, using a Nil Greatsword.
It's manageable, and in all honesty, I've totally gotten used to having repair powders and backup weapons on hand. But it's not even remotely enjoyable for a new player, and it's clear after playing the game on ps3 that it's not the way it's intended.
And honestly havent noticed much of a difference between this and when I played original DS2 on PS3. Used 2 repair powders on a dex/str build (using whip and spear ffs) and got to NG+...not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.
I honestly think its a very small isuue blown way out of proportion.
Contact with corpses does cause double the durability loss at 60fps, there's no way around that, and it's very hard to avoid with sweeping or large weapons, especially when there are packs of enemies.
See HERE (link goes to reddit's dark souls 2 boards) for a particularly in depth look.
Side note, even quicker way to break it is to summon three summons and just hit them. It broke quicker than 45 seconds for sure. Hitting summons breaks your weapon faster than anything else.
It's literally, literally the definition of a glitch. A piece of code not working as intended.
