Dragon Knights in Dragon Shrine won't attack?

This is very strange. I just got to Dragon Shrine and the golden Dragon Knights just refuse to attack me. They even bowed before me. I searched through the web but no one seems to have experienced this. Is it a bug, or have I done something that stops them from attacking me? Not even in the official guides do they say something about this.

Nah that's how it works, they won't attack you unless you aggro them yourselves or run away from the fight with the giant armor.

Someone here metioned that they will attack only if you kill all of the Drakekeepers or open chest in front of knights

What I have heard is that they do not attack if you are in the Dragon covenant. Are you?

They all definitely attacked me when I first got there.

They wont, I was in Bellkeeper myself and make sure to kill those giant armor and they let me pass just fine.

Overall the area feels like the Knights are testing you before you can even meet Ancient Dragon, at least the line "The dragons welcome you" makes more sense here.

Yup, I'm in the Pilgrims of the Dark covenant, and they didn't attack me. And as soon as I tried to run from the giant armor, they came after me. But I ran back to the bonfire and they went back to normal. I guess it's as Gale says, it does look like they're trying to see if you're "worthy", if you happen to be a coward who runs away from the fight I guess they won't approve.

Never use seed of giants there against red invaders
Use seed of the giants, and they will come after you.

dragon shrine is an area of honor no single dragonwarrior will atk if you fight the black giants with out leaving their platform or ganking with phantoms. picking up loot is legal, drinking estus too. but pass running or coop will aggro them all.
dragon shrine is meant to be solo play.

what i still ask myself, do the dragonwarriors care bout invaders? will they atk reds/blues if they interrupt the fair progress of duel?

they only care about invaders when using seed of giants

Joke's on them, I ran past every single dude in the house and made it safely to the Dragon.

I like the change, indeed, they're fine as long as you're dealing with the big guys. Accidentally aggro'd them, then thought to myself SPEEDRUN STRATS! I ran up to the ancient dragon, the whole horde behind me. Talked to him, and saw the horde backing off. Then I *cough* killed the ancient dragon, and as soon as the boss is gone, I see the horde angrily coming after me again. They didn't reach me until I used the feather though, hehe...

They don't give a ♥♥♥♥. In fact I got invaded twice, once by a player and once by that weird dark spirit (can't remember his name) who invades you in every area, the one who starts carrying a greatsword and then switches to a scythe. Anyway, the human player knew that I hadn't killed the last black giant, so the bastard tried to lure me into it's area of attack so I would aggro it, probably in order to force me to flee the battle and aggroing the dragonknights in the process.

What I mean to say is that, not only the knights do not attack the invaders, but they can even take advantage of the area's mechanics and use them against you. Like when they invade you in the Undead Crypt, just in front the boss gate, and the first thing they do is hit the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bell. The sneaky bastards...

Can anybody confirm whether or not they become hostile after you kill the Ancient Dragon? I haven't bothered since there is no reason to other than bragging rights and Vendrick is easy enough even with 4 Giant Souls.

I just killed the Ancient Dragon and the dragonknights still won't attack, they don't become hostile. I guess nobody liked the guy :(.

Or perhaps they figured "If he beat the ANCIENT DRAGON what chance do we have?" (granted the answer is "Plenty if we gang up")
