How do I get to the lost sinner?
Small question. Do I really have to buy that fragrant branch to get to the lost sinner from the lost bastille? Haven't played dark souls 2 for some while and only completed it once so this version of the game is still kind of a fresh experience for me.

If you go from pursuer you can get a fragand branch of yore free. Tho there will be a surprise for you.

Also you don't need to get ruin sentinels. You can skip that area. You just need to go from pursuer, get a key from the chest at Lucatiel, and go from the No Man's Wharf end and look for the alternative route. Or look up on the internet. It's the same as DX9 route.

I will personally skip that area, but you should experience it at least once.

Keep in mind that, if you do decide to skip the Ruin Sentinels and go straight to Lost Sinner you will need to use a Pharros Lockstone to open a hidden door, so take one of those with you!

Here's a random youtube video that showcases how to skip the boss:

Not anymore, if I'm correct the room with the cage elevator is already open now.

Oh, that could very well be! I just used it up out of habit and then thought it opened both of them. Sorry for the mis-information, then! :)
