whats up with running hollows?
they just run in a (large) circle and refuse to fight me.

You obviously never played World of Warcraft.... As for the hollows, there are 2 groups; one group is attacking the fallen giants, and you are less important to them; the other is bait trying to lead you to an ambush.

That is probably a good side effect of them running away, but imo they are just different versions of the shard lizards. When you do catch a running hollow and kill it...it drops something valuable like bonfire ascetic.

why should i play wow? dont say that as if its a bad thing not to be a 13yo who has to play what comercial tells him to
2nd
i killed 2 running hollows and they didnt drop something valuable but a lifestone.
3rd i am talking about the hollows in huntsman copse, there are no giants

"You no take candle." is something that enemies in WoW would say as they were running away, that was his reference. And yes, they are in multiple areas, the ones in huntsman's copse are definitely bait. As to what they drop, it's quite random.

1. When you quote me...quoting someone else, and wan't to reply to them......you should quote them instead.

2. That is odd that you got just a lifestone. I've seen several valuable things drop from them. It's not hard to presume that its on a table of rarity then if its true, considering they respawn and all.

3. You should probably keep your numbering and people you are refering to in the same general area.
