I hate how they put the auto effigy in. Almost kills the purpose of invading :(
i can burn a human effigy but thats the only thing i can see to do with effigy's
U may simply dont have nough, or have too high Soul Memory, since the Agape Ring showed up, ppl have been Caping ther SM to 1M or so, i still thinking capping to a certain Soul Level was stupid in DS1, at least in DS2 now it depends on how well u spend your souls, and still u ahve that +-2 Tiers to do some extra levels or upgrades and though while some ppl says dont accept items from invaders, well i say as long as the item its ''legal to keep'' i wont care how this guy got it, and some invaders are just nice ppl who like waste souls on others, so i just may accept their ''legal'' gift, for i was that lucky to meet that invader
As for the SM stuff, that's unfortunate but you can always start another char and use them for lower level SM co op/invasions. Otherwise, at 2 mil you'll still see tons of action on the Bridge and in the DLCs, but you'll want to level up since folks around 2mil will generally be level 150 or higher.
