It was useful in PvP when summoning but now it's useless, you'd have to have like 6:1 w/l ratio to not lose souls.
I admit that @ 3,000 souls the repair was way too cheap but now @ 14,000 souls it's too much.
Only time i could see myself using it if i get invaded at a bad spot, far from bonfire and don't feel like fighting my way back to that spot.
And who knows, maybe the price will be adjusted, then again maybe not.
That's it, the ring has no other purpose.
You're absolutely right.
The ring was simply too good, i know when i played through the ps3 version of the game, i had it on all the time, infact i regularly swapped out all three rings i had and only repaired them when all three broke down cos 9k souls, that's nothing.
So yeah, i think i'm actually glad the ring got nuked.
Discard half or 2/3 of your human effigies. Problem solved.
The RIng of Soul Protection? In the Gutter, after a couple of daring jumps and a couple mobs. And a dark spirit.
Bring a torch... or a light spell if you're feeling zazzy.
If you are using the Agape Ring, that means that you are comfortable enough with the game's mechanics and your own playstyle to hold back the leveling process for as long as you see fit. The Ring of Soul Protection is there for those people who wind up grinding bosses for souls and die while having 300k+ souls still on their person, usually from being invaded or facing a particularly tough boss.
I use it when I have to cross a particular DLC area at a low SM as there are certain enemies and level mechanics which make for a very grueling experience.
