Mouse controls not working properly in SotFS
Background Info

Skip background info and head to "The Problem" for you know, my problem.

Edit: The problem was fixed. As to how, you'll find it if you scroll down to, you know, "The Fix"

So I've played through DS and DSII with mouse and keyboard. For DS I used DSMfix and for DSII I played vanilla and later used an AutoHotkey script to make some of the controls less ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

I've bought the SotFS edition because I didn't have the DLCs and wanted to start a new run. This time I thought to myself: Lets try with a controller. Turns out i'm terrible with it + it sometimes randomly stops working or doing stuff I didn't intend like moving the camera leading to my death.

I decided to try out mouse and keyboard again. Changed some settings, e.g. disabling double clicking because whoever thought that was a good idea obviously had some scews loose. I don't have any mods installed and the AutoHotkey script does not seem to work properly.

The Problem

I'm currently stuck in friggin Forest of Fallen Giants because I keep dying and ragequitting because my attack button(left click) sometimes in fight doesn't cause an attack to happen. Also there seems to be some unnatural input lag. I'm using my signature weapon, the Fire Longsword and it doesn't feel right. It's too slow, follow up animations are coming in too late or as I said don't happen at all. The first hit seems to work always.

Does anybody experience the same issues?
Also does anybody know if and how I could get the AutoHotkey script back to work?

The Fix

This Reddit-Link has all the necessary info to circumvent the problem.

It's actually the same problem as with Dark Souls 2 vanilla but I personally forgot all about it and since SotFS reset all the settings since it required a fresh install the most important part of "Unbind ALL the mouse bindings under "Keybinding > Mouse" ingame." was lost on me.

I am now using the Default-AHK script and it works just fine(again). You may want to bind the "Activate" button to somewhere more reachable. I used "b". "q" might also work, not sure.

I will continue to subscribe to this discussion for a while, so if you have questions or need help then just ask.

I have the exact same issue pretty much. I use the logitech g700 s mouse and have my heavy attacks, weapon switching and target lock as the side buttons. Ran the exact same set up as I did with DS2 with no problems and when I started playing SotFS I would randomly get massive amounts of mouse lag and every so often my mouse buttons would become unresponsive.

I got as far as Dragon Aerie before my mouse controls completely shut down. I can manage to use light attacks but cannot lock on, switch weapons or use heavy attacks as well as my character continuously encounter auto walk which lasts a good 10-15 secs before just randomly turning off.

I've tested my mouse repeatedly on other games such as Skyrim, Warframe and Battlefield 3 and 4. My mouse does not seem to be the issue but rather some script in the game or something. I feel your pain man

even though i'm playing with an xbox one gamepad, i've tried the keyboard+mouse combo and didn't have these issues.

How did you get your controller to work? I'm playing with a PS4 Controller using the ScpServer that makes the computer recognize it as a 360 conroller. The camera is spazzing out and the key bindings are wonky.

well the xbox one controllers use an official driver so u just plug it and it works. i'm guessing that what u're using is a 3rd party driver/xinput emulator since there's no official drivers for the dualshock 4 and these tend to have bugs.

Ok I'll just treat it like a 360 controller and find a fix.

I'm sorry I fixed the problem some time ago, I will update my main post but also write here, so:

The problem has got to do with the incredibly insane programming of the DS2 mouse controls. The game waits for a double click input and only if there is none will it after a given time react to the single click which results in noticeable lag of course. However the devs were kind enough to provide keyboard keys for the attack animations, which can be mapped to the mouse via AutoHotkey.

This is of course old news but I fixed my problem with vanilla DS2 so long ago that I forgot and Scholar of the First Sin reset all your settings including a crucial step in getting the Script to work.(meaning setting all your mouse settings in the DS2 ingame config to "nothing")

Long story short I suggest looking at this:

http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/23zq0s/mousekeyboard_fix/

Read the whole damn thing, it's really informative, though a bit badly typeset maybe. It still works as described. I suggest going with the Default AHK, it takes a little getting used to but is generally quite nice. I bound "Interact" to the "b"-key because it doesn't interfere with the AutoHotkey-script and because I can reach it while having my fingers on WASD. Also right next to it is the "n"-key which causes dual wield(not sure if "q" is used in any way, now that I think of it). "n" is also the equivalent of "y" on your game pad for switching different activatable things and some menus stuff.

Hello,
I have read your contribution for the mouse fix for Dark Souls 2. I have the fixed Dark Souls 2 with AutoHotkey. I have now DS2 SotfS DX11 version and it no longer works. Can you help me there I got the http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/23zq0s/mousekeyboard_fix/ formerly used now does not work anymore. I have at the options for mouse done everything to nothing but brings nothing? Sry for bad English

I'm going to need more info than that. As a first step you could reset all your controls settings in DS2. For the script to work all the keyboard settings need to be the default settings and all the mouse settings need to be set to nothing. I actually currently use a modified version of the AHK-script pasted in this tutorial. (After setting the script up and making sure it worked I realised the script says nothing about the mouse wheel controls so I rebound them in DS2.):

Maybe that helps. Take a look at the Known issues and FIXES. Again, I suggest reading the entire thing and make sure you've done everything correctly. Because I can't really help you if all the information you give me is "it doesn't work". Just make sure you didn't make any mistakes and come back with more specific info if you need.

Can it be that DS 2 SotFS DX11 version with AHK does not work? No matter what script I try it does not work , the mouse controls in the game , I stopped .
