that is totally normal, you can only summon three friendly people the other extra slots are for invaders. If you can summon 3 people you got DX11 on DX9 you can only summon 2.
I purchased the upgrade also. It's basically a standalone version. I didn't get any update to my DX9 before and after the purchase of SotFS. So, it's not even an upgrade. It's just a major discount of the remastered version. They should've made it $10 for those who already own Dark Souls 2 before the release and $20 full price.

With the summonings. I have only been able to summon 3 at a time as well. It was a feature that was promised upon the release of this version, but now I'm assuming it will be introduced in a patch later.

What they promised is 6 multiplayer slots and thats what you got, they never promised 6 summons.... Of the 6 multiplayer slots only 4 (host and 3 summons) are for co op.

it's a standalone game. That you own this one means you have the Dx11 version.

This is the forum for the DX11 version, also known as 64-bit version (now). If you bought anything from here and play what you downloaded afterwards, congrats you are playing the new version.

I keep saying that "upgrade" was a poor choice of word.

I guess they can't just have "discount", tho.

Yeah that's what i actually meant :D
well since I cannot clearly see a huuge visual improvement it was kinda hard to tell :D

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX9): 39,99 Dollar
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin (DirectX11): 49,99 Dollar
DirectX11 Upgrade for Dark Souls 2-Besitzer auf Steam: 29,99 Dollar
DirectX11 Upgrade for Dark Souls 2- und DLC-Besitzer auf Steam: 19,99 Dollar

and I paid 14,99
that is what made it confusing :D just sayin ~

uninstall ds2 and play scholars. it is two seperate games. youll notice huge difference in terms of clarity. you can see every scratch in a wall. i was able to crank up my sharpness way higher and everything pops like mad is gorgeous

so I have to start from the beginning? Cant use the same character?
Legato Apr 20, 2016 @ 3:19pm
old necro, but oh well. Yes, you have to start the beginning, DirectX 9 files are COMPLETELY different from DirectX11 files. You cannot transfer save data from between games. Sorry.

To makes it easier to understand quoting some reddit post, "Save game data has information about enemies, item locations, and so on which is all being changed in SotFS. There's no easy way the save games could be compatible."
