But there's nothing stopping you from getting both. The difference in difficulty between bonfire intensity 2 and intensity 3 is negligible, so just burn yet another ascetic, once you've burned your first and killed Freja again.
If your build doesn't use the sword, then, obviously, grab the spell and no need to do the boss again. If it does use the sword, just do the boss one more time (or have someone drop it to you, even better)... Not complicated.
And, you may even want more than one CSS... You could get a bunch and not have to bother using anything else... At least in PVE (a bunch of copies of CSS and Crown of the Old Iron King basically means infinite CSS).
Speaking of which, could anyone PLEASE tell me of any even decent soul farming areas? The best one I found so far was the doors of pharros bonfire with CoC, and just kill the big dude over and over. It isn’t bad but are there any better ones if I am up to defeating Old Iron King, Lost Sinner, Freja, and I did somehow unlock shrine of winter, and I am also at Dragelic castle. I’m not sure how progression truly works yet in this game but I also have Gutter/Black marsh unlocked as well.
Otherwise, I feel like CSP would be best, as I’ve also heard MSG special attack breaks durability pretty quick but idk if it’s still good considering, but thank you!
The best spot for souls farming is killing King of Giants over and over again. His memory has bonfire ascetic, so you can repeat as many times as you want, if you equip everything on souls gain, its should be easily 400k souls per 5 min cycle.
Those shrines are DLC areas.
MLGS isnt better choise, but its way more fun. Bring repair spell, or buy a ton of repair powder at the ghost in Drangleic castle (i believe 2500 per powder?)
Really curious on its damage.
I’ve heard good stuff with Great Resonant Soul, but do you have to have a lot of souls for it to do good damage? Wondering on the damage between crystal soul spear and great resonant soul.
Thanks
Unleash Magic (sorcery) + Climax (hex) is the strongest in the game (5k+ SM each cast).
However, CSS is very strong when it works, as it can hit multiple enemies for a lot of damage each. Of course, there are also enemies highly resistant to magic, especially in the DLC's. Sunlight Spear is very strong and lightning is the least resisted element overall. Great Resonant Soul is kinda meh, it'll almost always work, but it's almost never the best and then there's the 500 SM each cast...
Magic > Hexes > Pyromancy > Miracles
Crystal soul spear is the best easily 1.5k dmg and magic overall has better spells in late game, pyromancies is the best as damage support(poison, random projectile without spending lvls into fth/int), Miracles mostly healing and magic barrier with force, hexes either dark orb spam for 400-550 damage or Great Resonant Soul for 800ish, costs 500 souls per cast.
Most hexes are useful only in pvp(weird stat requirements, low uses, unusual spells but less damage then resonant soul spell) or in very niche scenarios, scraps is OP tho.
For weapon damage in base game:
Physical/Lightning > Hexes > Magic > Fire.
In DLC same, except physical now superior to everything, unless you have 50-60 lvls in damage stat and weapon buff, then its should be equal to physical builds.
Fire is unusable in entire DLC and 1 DLC boss has 90% magic resistance. Crystal soul spear for 168 dmg :)))
If one were to try a hex build for PvE, what is the best Staff+Chime for maximum damage? (Sunset staff at 50/50 + chime of want?) I heard 30/30 is the soft cap, just wondering if adding more int+faith would increase it that much more.
From what I’ve read, only some hexes can be cast with a chime?
Really liking sorceries but kind of wanted to give hexes a try with a respec.
I personally prefer Witch staff, since its could cast magic, chime and staff hexes and miracles.
