Stats and weapons advices for DEX build PVE
Hi,

I need advices for my SL150 DEX build for PVE

I plan to use a rapier, probably Espada Ropera.
But what is better, 2 handed or dual wield ?
Is the extra damage really worth it in dual wield compare to 2 handed ?
The problem is the extra points I need to put in strengh for that...
And there is Ricard Rapier dual wield, that requires less strengh, with a L2 strong ambi move that drains almost no stamina.

Here are mys tats right now (started with a bandit class)

Vigor: 50
Endurance: 41
Strengh: 14
Dex: 40
Adaptibility: 33
Attunement/Int/faith: base

So if I decide to use Espada Ropera 2 handed, I can bring my strengh to 11
So where should I put my extra points ?
Dex or endurance ?
Is 50 Dex a waist ? I know it will only add maximum 15 damage points, and only on the best dex weapons...
On the other hand what is the point of increasing Endurance if the extra points do not give me a new attack or an extra roll ?

So I can have 50 DEX and 36 endurance

OR

40 DEX and 44 endurance

If I decide to dual wield Ricard rapier or Espada Ropera, I will have even less points to put in those stats...

What is your opinion please ?

Thx for any help

Power-stancing is an extremely viable mechanic that can significantly improve your DO (damage output). Ricard's Rapier, when fully upgraded, has an "S" rating in Dex, so you'll be a getting a huge bonus if you cap at 50. However, the bonus is still great at 40, and PS drains more stamina, so 40 Dex and 44 endurance is the way to go. Endurance, especially for a Dex build, is crucial to improving damage output by increasing the amount of successive strikes in a short amount of time. I think this covers most of the premise behind a Dex build. If you need anything else, let me know and I'll be glad to help. :D Also, don't forget to PRAISE THE SUN!

Ok thx a lot,

and advice on 50 DEX vs 43 Endurance is what I wanted to hear.
( Dual Ricard rapier will need 12 strengh, which will mean 40 DEX and 43 Endurance, not 44, but I guess it is okay)

So according to you Ricard Rapier deals more damage at 40 DEX than Espada Ropera ?
Many people said to me Espada Ropera had better damage.

About the dual wield, I've been using Falchion in my whole playthrough, and I was disapointed with dual wield.
It does more damage peer hit, but the animation is too slow for me, so a two handed Falchion does more damage in the long run because you will land more hits, and the stamina cost is way lower.
With dual Falchion, I often did not have the time to strike, and to roll to escape the ennemy's hit...
So I ended up using 2 handed falchion more...
So I hope dual ricard rapier's animation is faster.
If it is not, I will go back to my Espada Ropera 2 handed, since Richard Rapier seems not very good 2 handed because of the multiple hit Strong attack R2, that does not deal enough damage for the speed and breaks the weapon very early in my opinion.
It makes me miss Espada Ropera strong attack R2.

I wouldn't go for more dex, you can equip the ring of blades and get more damage from that, or if your vitality is under 14 you can use flynn's ring for the same effect.

Exactly I have :

- Ring of blade +1 (plan to get the +2)
- Leo's ring
- Plan to get Fllynn's ring (and I have 14 vita for that)
- Dragon Ring

Unfortunately I won't be able to equip chloranthy ring, but my character is around 33%-34% equip load, si I guess it is ok.
Dragon Ring seems better than chloranthy ring +2, I am correct ?

There is also the stone ring for poise damage, but it seems better for PVP than PVE.

Edit:

I just realized that with the Dragon ring, I can have 9 Vitality for the same result as 14 Vitality without it, and benefit from the Flynn ring.
It means 5 free points.
So if I cap at 12 strengh for dual Ricard Rapier, I can have 50 DEX and 38 endurance, it seems sweet.
Or else it is 40 DEX and 48 endurance...it seems overkill to me no ?

Considering you are using a light weapon, you don't need that much endurance. If you are doing PVE the most times you will hit is about 6 times in a row, depending on the boss. 38 END is PLENTY and should get you 5 or 6 strikes while 2 handing. When in doubt, count how many hits you can do one handed and two handed and then determine how much stamina you need. Use Soul Vessel if necessary during tests.

As far as Chloranthy vs Dragon Ring, I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. They fulfill different things...You should decide which tool fits your playstyle better.

Go with the 50 Dex and just use the Ricard Rapier, is my advice.

Thx that is exactly what I came up with.

But now I realize I made a mistake with the choice of my class.
I have a bandit, but Knight is better for flynn ring + dragon ring , because he can have 9 VITA :(

With my bandit at base 11 vita, I am loosing 4 AR damage with flynn ring, and I have 37 Endurance instead of 38...

I know it is not much...but I am such a perfectionnist, I think I could restart everything from scratch just for those 4 AR.

4 AR isn't even noticable. You'll deal 340 instead of 347 or so. It's that insignificant. You should be counting the number of hits it takes to kill something, rather than the damage. This is a big mistake that a lot of people make. They pour themselves into getting the highest AR possible, when they have no idea how many swings it takes to kill something. If you're dealing 575 vs 570 it will still take 2 hits to kill an Allonne Knight in NG, for example. So, I wouldn't worry too much about it!
