Can't Parry With a Parrying Dagger
It's weird I can easily parry with other weapons like small and medium shields, blade hilts and greatswords. I've even parried with greataxes (but that was far from consistent). However, I've yet to parry a single time with a parrying dagger, as hilarious as it may sound!

How is timing different from the weapons I listed above (excluding greatswords and greataxes of course)?

Thanks.

It has very quick starting frames, so more suitable for reactionary parrying. A bit like the mon scimmy, pre nerf - though it still has a windup of like 2 frames.

from my experience and research it has longer frames but takes a little longer for the parry frames to start compared to small shield and scimitars..at least in my exoerience for reaction parrys now i find it easier with a small shield

According to the wiki article it has shorter frames but a faster startup time :P. Dunno whom to believe.

you probably press the parry button too early. compared with the buckler/target shild you will have to parry a little bit later.
A bit later would be after their attack... I already press it extremely close to when they hit with a small shield (never use a buckler).
When I do it, they just hit through my parry animation.

Like all daggers and even small curved swords, parry timings are short but near instant. There was a bug with the mon scimi that made it have - not only instant, but also long parry frames. Usually when im trying to figure out the parry windows i test them on the hollows in FoFG. Once you have it down you can use it on pretty much anything else in PVE.

To be completly honest, nothing beats small shields and or buckler/target shield.

I know, but I figured they're too cheesy since I almost always get a parry not sweat with those :P
Plus I can block with them which is even more cheesy, which I can't do with the dagger.

Dewd dont uz shield just uz ice rapier. Press r1 lotz two hands r 4 skrubs. Nobody uzes L anymore. Skrub.

On a serious note. Parrying dagger is pretty instantaneous with a small window. The other ones you kinda do in advance because they are slow. Practice on some mobs. And put poison on the parrying dagger for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. Ive actually been able to use it to kill a surprising amount of people. VS unskilled people only tho its not viable in the least lol.

lol) That's not what I meant. I'm using mirrah greatsword both to fight, block and parry, but was trying to adapt new tactics. And it makes sense they're more instantaneous with the dagger, but it doesn't seem the case in pvp with all the delay...
