you could try a lightning infused heide sword as an alt. weapon
mace - probably the best early weapon. I still use it as my backup weapon it's so good. Most enemies are stunned from the very first hit until they die.
defender greatsword - GREAT weapon. It has it's own lightning inherently built into itself which you can use way before you get the sunlight blade spell - sooo cool!
large club - great early weapon for whacking enemies.
greatsword - very good, always good for whacking bosses or multiple enemies all rounded up together.
malformed shell - just a great weapon all around, but it's a bit risky to get.
dragon tooth - BEAST - curretly my highest damage weapon using the ring of blades +2 and adding sunlight blade spell There is not a normal enemy, or red phantom that you can not totally own with this weapon. 2-hand, whack, rinse repeat, they never get up.
grym greataxe - I am actually a little dissappointed in this weapon just due to the limited attack set and angle of swing. It actually misses dogs about half of the time, it just swings right over them if you do the hoizontal attack, and the range of attack feels very short in comparison to a greatsword, club, etc.... Yuck. But it does a ton of damage.
Erm.....you have to clear shrine of amana and undead crypt BEFORE you can even access the throne of want.......Just sayin'
You also use up durability to buff it and iirc, it's weaker than SLB. Still a solid weapon from what I understand, even with the nerfs it recieved.
Edit: To the OP: Honestly, take it from a guy who did make the mistake, leave the sun sword uninfused.
General rules of thumb for infusing your weapon:
Infuse if.....
a) It has great base damage
b) it has lackluster scaling
c) you have high stats that are relevant to the element you are infusing with.
d) it has inherent elemental properties
Leave uninfused if.......
a) the base damage is not that great
b) the weapon has excellent scaling
Those are general rules of thumb, and there are exceptions (but I dont feel like going over them, someone else who is much nicer than me will)
