soft level cap for pvp?
I'm currently level 100. I hear soft cap for PvP is 150 to 200. although I'd like to PvP at 100 since i feel builds are more balanced that way. I'm new to this game, so can any vets tell me what is THE DEFACTO standard level cap for PvP? much obliged

People say the pvp level is 145-155, so you can't have kickass weapons and magic or miracles, pyromancy included.

as far as i know most ppl PvP in 2M-5M soul MEMORY. Lvl up as much as you can.
Long story short you should finish your build on 150-170soul level. Everything above that is almost everything

Soul Level doesn't have anything to do with matchmaking. You are matched entirely on Soul Memory which is split into tiers.

I understand that, however I don't want to pvp at level 800 +, that's just stupid

Correct. The level softcap (the meta) is 145-155, and that's where you'll get most pvp (and most competitive pvp, since all major streamers play in that range and generally better players choose it). Don't level up any firther unless you wanna join the "havel buttface ice rapier" race.

Not true. Soul level plays major role in matchmaking. It's +-5 your soul level.

You're thinking of Dark Souls 1. Dark Souls 2 only uses Soul Memory for matchmaking.

Nobody honorably pvp's at max level. Go 150 if you want a helathier pvp.

What is this "honorable PvP" you speak of? Go to the Old Iron Keep bridge, click on a summon sign, or drop your own. Bow, fight, repeat.

So if you have 156 SL character that means i am bad player?
Most players PvP in 2M-5M Soul memory and that should give you like 160-180 Soul level
Another braindead discussion.
