Buckler vs Target Shield?
Are both 'parrying' shields, or is the Buckler the only one with extended parrying frames? I'm curious why the Buckler is the only one I see in PvP, if it's just the weight, or if it's the fact that it's the only one with extended parrying frames.

Well, by the act of parrying is with a sword, so git gud and parry with a rapier. jk tbh in reality you cant parrry with bigger sheilds

the fact is, buckler target shield and manniquin shield all have the same parry animation, with less frame on the start and more on the actual parry frame. therefore the manniquin shield is the best because it has more protection

if you're really looking for a good shield for parrying, use the clerics small shield, i has the "fast" parry animation (-> fast recovery from parry animation), can spell parry and has decent stats for blocking (but be cautious though, it has not a great stability)

it's a fast parry shield, so it has less parry frames (a.k.a. less probabilities to parry). thus it's a normal shield, not a small. if you need a small shield capable of parrying spells, there is one for that

monastary scimitar though, its a good parry weapon

I've liked the target shield since Dark Souls. It looks pretty unique, and I always used to enjoy playing the "thief" class when it existed. The buckler has been around since Demon's Souls though. So I guess there's that.

it acts like a normal curved sword now, so it's not that much of a deal
