(Like half of all areas... :D)
DLC areas? All I gotta say is frozen lightning horsies.
No Man´s Wharf, Shrine of Amana (without "cheesing" with a bow), Shaded Woods fog area (without the DLC key that makes enemies visible). SotFS version of Iron Keep is also extremely irritating to be honest.
DLC: Frozen Eleum Loyce and especially the optional Frigid Outskirts with those hellponies. Most enemies are hard to stun, resist magic, their attacks track like homing missiles, have gap closers and/or ranged attacks. Rampart Golems, frozen spear hollows and rolling hedgehogs are especially irritating. And of course we have everyone´s favorite encounter with the friendly neighborough backstabber, Maldron the Assassin. :)
Also shout out to Iron Passage, which is honestly a terribly designed area just meant to slaughter you. Those astrologers that spam Promised Walk of Peace are a doozy. I was amazed that I actually managed to kill the Blue Smelter Demon with only two tries by running past everything using the main route (no shortcuts).
