Petrified something...

I've been farming the crap out of smooth and silky stones lately, approaching 100, and noticed I have 2 petrified something's in my inventory. I know I acquired one from the character creation part, and there's none to be looted from the beginning to the Lost Sinner, at least according to any DS2 wikis and info sites. The next location is Earthen Peak but I'm not there yet on this playthrough.

Are the wikis outdated? Is there a specific enemy that has a rare drop rate for petrified something? I can't recall where I've picked up that 2nd one. It's driving me nuts lol

what are you trying to get from them? I have gotten around 6 or seven of them, and to answer your question, they are a rare drop from mimics and the dragons in dragon aerie can drop them.

In SotFS, they put more then a few in chests and on the ground here and there.

There are no mimics up until the Sinner as far as I know in NG. However, wikis aren't too accurate about mimics either, e.g. there are no mentioning of NG+ mimics.

There aren't mimics at this point. And to answer your question, I'm farming smooth and silky stones because it increases my chance of picking up petrified dragon bones and rare titanite stuff. I once traded 25 SaSS and got like 4 petrified dragon bones which are rare to come by early in the game. I'd imagine what 100 SaSS would accomplish lol

No the wikis are bs. My experiences have contradicted the wikis in so many occassions I don't rely on them. Apparently, this current experience (2 petrified something's) is another factor to show how outdated the wikis are.

SOMETHING dropped a petrified something and I was unfortunate to not have paid any attention and now I suffer the consequences not knowing who or what drops it lol I'm trying to recollect all the enemy types you come across from Things Betwixt all the way until Lost Sinner/Belfry Luna.

I found my recorded footage to answer this question...

After you defeat the Belfry Gargoyles and reach the end bonfire, you drop down that ladder in the ditch with all the dogs and phantom, there's a petrified something on a dead body down there....
