Another path from Majula opens up one you find a fragrant branch of yore. There is also a way to move the round room on the way to Heide's tower once you defeat the boss there.
DS2 is more open to begin with and linear toward the end, like a reverse DS1.
Switch to open the door is on the right.
DON'T KILL HER btw - otherwise you can't level up
1. Forest of the fallen Giant. Most likely the best place to go as a newb. It will later lead to the Lost Bastille.
2. If you go to the Rotunda you will be able to get to the Heide's Tower of Flame that lead to No-man's Wharf that later lead to Lost Bastille. The Rotunda also lead to the Iron Keep after a few areas.
3. From the path that lead from the Things Betwixt there is a path to the left that leads to the shaded ruins. To unlock this path you need to find a branch of yore. This path leads to Brightstone Cove Tseldora and later Drangleic castle (when you are worthy).
4. Down the pitt you have to go in order to fight the garbage of this world in the Black Gulch.
These are the 4 paths so get to it and hope it helps.
Play the game without asking forums for help.
once you beat it the first time, feel free to do so at this point.
seriously.
I think most new players are baited to go to Heide's Tower of Flame first because the entrance looks more "welcoming" and noticeable whereas the other pathways are kind of hidden. There is no correct way to go first, they all wind up back in the same place eventually.
