Ghosting effect fix for higher end PC with new monitors.
If the pinned comment didn't help you out, after years of trying to fix this it happened on Skyrim the other day. This now being the second game I get this weird ghosting effect on, I knew it had something to do with the frame lock.

My issue wasnt anything on my pc, it was simply a setting on my monitor. I have an Omen curved UW so for me I went in my monitor setting, in the gaming section, and then I lowered the "Response Time" from level 4 to level 3 or 2 if it still shows.

I'm unsure what this setting would be called or where on other monitors, but this fixed my issue on both games and I can finally play these games without getting a constant headache.:er_heart:

It's called or referred to "overdrive" on most monitors. Often the options are "Off", "Normal" and "High"/"Extreme", but sometimes you get more options and yeah, you want to try to have it somewhere in the middle for minimal ghosting.

My display has 3 settings. With "Off" i get your typical ghosting. But with this setting toggle to "Extreme", i get "Inverse ghosting", which is really noticeable on my monitor at lower framerates. I never really noticed, until i plugged in my Switch where many games are locked to 30FPS. It looks different from regular ghosting, almost as there's always a white shadow trailing behind.
It's actually straining to look at. A weird sensation.

On "Normal", everything's good in the hood.

Here's a nice article on that:
