Mace of the Insolent.
What's your guy's and girl's verdict on this weapon?
I've been toying with a few builds for it in my head, but nothing concrete right now.
  • Magic infusion + buffing it with Flame Weapon for all elemental damage PvE weapon.
  • See above, fire infusion / CMW.
  • Melee weapon with support miracles (Force / heals / Buffs) and offensive hexes.
  • Duel wielding Mace + Blue Flame, double buffs for dayz.

Even if you have a quality build, the mace of the insolent it's self is a very poor quality weapon. It deals very low damage, so the honest way to get the most power out of it would be to dark infused and dark buff it.

The only upsides that I can see of this weapon is the fact that you can cast miracles/hexes and that its a strike/blunt weapon.

this weapon is actually a beast... - just infuse it with dark
Nolo Contendere Nov 6, 2015 @ 4:54pm
I made the mistake of having 2 lightning infused ones that I buffed with SLB.......
Not as bad as it sounds actually, but you're probably better off with dark

It's definitely a fun weapon, but it's honestly better to carry both a mace and a chime/staff/pyromancy flame rather than have a chime/mace in one item.

And for the love of the sun, if you're going to be carrying a mace of the insolent you infuse it with dark or lightning. not magic or fire.

"fun weapon" - seriously you can destroy people with it - even if they have gmb on - as for having a chime/staff next to it... well you can still add one

I wouldnt use it except for a fashion or roleplay character. Maybe if you powerstanced 2 of them while dark infused with resonant weapon or similar for the dual buff capability...Although, it may actually be a decent way to run a powerstance hexer...Godamn this thread....I need to go make another character now....

I just double checked and i guess I didn't have the right build for it (i prefered miracles to hexes myself). Regardless, you'll still have much better scaling with a regular mace you infused with dark though the mace of the insolent will have a higher base dark damage rating and thus react more strongly to buffs.

@That Casul Guy: that's.....probably the only viable way to use mace of the insolent.

trust me i did used that weapon on my mage build and it hit for 400 - 500 through gmb - no buff, no powerstane - just a single +10 dark mace of the insolent (not ot mention that bs were up at the 1k teritory)

I used it for a while, also on a mage character. Yes, it does decent damage, quite good damage - except you are limited to light attacks only and for either pure casters and battlemages alike there are much better options.

As far as spell tools that aren't just a regular staff or chime go, it is probably as useful as the disc chime. Sanctum Shield is much better value for money than either however, with a very useful block/attack mechanism as well as just being a great all-round shield and a decent spell tool that casts sorceries, miracles, and hexes of the chime OR staff variety (anything but pyro spells).

In any case you won't be wasting your time trying out the mace, you will probably really enjoy it for a while since not many people ever use the thing in pvp and will not quite know what hit them. Then you will probably figure out a better setup and move on like most people who use it. But once you use it, you kinda know that if you ever come up against somebody using it then the fight will not be easy XD

Good luck

Yeah, I've been looking at why you would use the Mace as opposed to the Sanctum Shield other than the only reason being powerstancing.

On the subject of the Sanctum Shield, I've seen that weapon used to great effect in PvP, hell, one guy wrecked my ass just using duel shields. He buffed it with Resonant Weapon and just slowly 2h shield bashed me to death. The attack were too fast for me to get a backstab on him and he punished every attempted backstab with another shield bash. Dude was crazy.

A Guardbreak demolishes a shield user: Every time he attacks, he has blocking frame while attacking. If you "trade hits" (he shieldbashes, you do a guardbreak) you get some damage and he gets guardbroken. Riposte and you win. That easy ;P

Anybody who has used the shield for any length of time will know that they can interchange heavy shield bashes (which cant be guardbroken+riposted, only stunned briefly) with the light shield bashes that can be broken, and it can be a nightmare to beat.

I've used it in such a way and gone against other people who have been good enough to mix it up and damn... I call it the "build-destroyer" cos even when you are guard breaking it can be hellish to actually land one that will get you the actual break :s

I can't rely on guardbreak, the whole timing with controllers is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up thing. I know someone posted a way to script both jumping attacks and guardbreaks to your L3 button somewhere.

Yea any 2h shield breaking attacks will do with stone ring (estoc, spiders silk, shotel, darkdrift, im sure there's others i'm missing). Probably the most effective way to beat it. Oh well RIP sanctum shield you guys heard it first right here XD
