Dark Souls 3 Prestige Edition is totally worth it

Dafuq was From Software/Bandai thinking? The Prestige Edition is almost $700! Think of what you could buy with that. You could get a PS4 or an Xbox One AND the Collector's edition of Dark Souls 3 and have over a hundred dollars left.

The worst part is what the Prestige Edition includes. It's everything the Collector's Edition has but includes a 40cm statue that raises the price by around $400.

Btw the prices are Canadian.

You do realise that those prices are a conversion based on an Arabic store, things tend to be different in different regions. I'd hold off on the "OMG $400 statue" until your regions prices are released.

Since we are on the mater of cost, the statue is worth what someone will pay like anything else if you don't think it's worth it then don't buy it.

Well if you think I shouldn't judge the Prestige Edition then let's talk about the Collector's Edition. Uncharted 4's Collector's edition has a statue that's LARGER than Dark Souls 3's and is around $50 cheaper. While you can say DS3's Collector's Edition has more things you can't say some iron on patches, a cloth map and the soundtrack add up to $50.

But this isn't about making it attainable to the long time fans, it isnt about From being all about the gamers, it's about them marketing elitism to a community that hardly needs more.

You pay for the Prestige, it isn't about the stuff you get, but what that stuff symbolizes. And people with big egos need stuff like Mercedes and BMWs to make themselves feel like they are part of the in-club that is above everyone else because everyone else (the plebs) faces a barrier to entry (price).

It's not the egos that matter. It's that people buying this tells devs/publishers that people will still buy their products even if the price is way too high.

I agree. The problem is that people will never think about what they are buying logically and see if it's worth it and what the consequences are. You may see that and I may see that, but others won't bother to think about it or care. Why do you think that they split the last book of every series into 2 movies now? It's certainly not to make it better. It's because people bought into the scam and now they are milking it. I told people that would be the result and I refused to buy into it when they first tried it, but unfortunately people don't care. They won't care with this either. Hence why I said I wouldn't buy it, but their money is theirs to do with as they please.

In the end I will be happy if they don't do that SotFS rerelease crap again. At least the collectors edition doesn't separate the community and is optional.

People need to stop getting so pissed off. It's for collectors, things like this is usually expsensive online. If you don't want to buy it then don't. Let the people who want to buy it buy it while you buy the game at normal price. I mean really? It had nothing to do with preordering, it's for people who want to start a collection or already have.

It's a hobby to collect little statues. Just like it's a hobby to collect stamps. You aren't forced to do that.
If you guys don't want to get a statue, then don't buy the prestige edition. It's that simple. You don't need to complain about that - if you do, you could also complain about paintings' prices.

Also keep in mind that the normal and the collector's edition are priced normally, so you can't complain about From being too greedy - as said, it's a symbol to own this statue, just like a fast (and expensive) sport car.

you guys are completly missing the point, i do want to buy the statue, but it is incredibly expensive compared to buying a third party 1 that is better quality.

The thing is those things would be significantly cheaper if bought seperatly, rather as part of the preorder.
