Tip is prepare yourself completly before you start ng+ I guess. Get everything you need and plenty of it. Put some stuff in your itembox just incase.
In my first no death/bonfire run i died against one pursuer in Lost Bastille but i keep going and when i was in the final, just needed the lord of giant and Nasshandra, i was thinking about Lucatiel
I used alt+enter (didnt know about steam overlay) and sit on a bonfire that was really close to me... and good bye challenge.
Then i started ng+ with same character and could complete both
Scholar is harder than Ds2, and i didnt that, keep my sm pretty good
Pretty much what I did xD. Try to go for max amount of item. Challenge is nice but the reward is "worth it" I guess xD
I think you do, I think what they meant was that you get those consumable souls you can pop when you've reached ng+. Maybe?
The Pursuer in the Lost Bastille killed me once.
Gravity killed me once during the drops down to the Grave of Saints/Gutter. And once in the FofG when I wasn't careful.
I got butchered by some manikins once, too.
I did it on 6th try. I pressed Alt+F4 every time a NPC invaded me, just in case (like the biggest scrub, but the Forlorn can kick your ass quite hard)
No-bonfire-run on 1st try, I didn't make any stupid mistakes.
Not sure about it either but if that is the case, you coule farm old iron king for example like 50-60 times. those soul consumables should grant you around 6mil.
Edit: the rotten is probably easier to farm. 1 run = 85k in consumables
I've played some games where there was an achievement for completing every level with no deaths. The problem was that there was no option to auto-restart if you did die. You would have to escape, select restart, confirm yes that you wanted to restart, then try again.
It would be nice if optional but on the other hand, it kills the challenge a bit by the game itself keeping you save. Ds2 has no achievement for those runs other than the rings of the conquerer and exalted.
Some tips I would give you for a ng++ no-death/bonfire would be:
Make sure to stock up on lifegems beforehand so you have a means of healing when your estus runs out. Another option is farming Elizabeth Mushrooms as they are far superior to lifegems when you have 2k+ health.
Only fight the bosses that are absolutely necessary to finishing the run. That means no dlc until after the credits are over.
If you're doing both challenge runs at once, I recommend carrying as much repair powder as possible as the durability of your stuff will decrease over time, and it will be your only way of repairing things (apart from intentionally breaking and repairing at blacksmith).
One possible weapon to think about using is the Santier's Spear, as when it breaks it becomes an unbreakable twinblade, and you will not need to worry about repairing it.
If you're planning on doing a run utilizing atunement slots, make sure to have plenty of herbs so you can replenish your spell uses.
I recommend doing this offline, as then you won't have to worry about being killed by a skilled/meta invader.
Finally, don't do anything stupid like thinking "I could totally make that jump", or "Oh look, it's a shiny!", or "I've got enough health for this, no reason to heal right now".
Good Luck with your no death/no bonfire run!
My ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cat pushed the controller out of my hands, Where it landed on my joystick, causing my character to meekly hop into the water.
I have never wanted to strangle a kitten more then at that point......
