Tips for Black Gulch?

Man, this place is frustrating. I'm a melee strength sword and board character, just getting torn apart from the poison on those statues.

Any tips on how to deal with this place? I haven't gotten past the first invader.

I always infuse a bow with fire to easily set fire to the oilspools. If I end up poisoned I use two lifegems to balance it out. Try getting a thrusting weapon and hug the wall to destroy the statues. As for the invader, there are two summon signs by the worms, but if you summon there'll be a second invader. I suggest clearing out the first area and then luring the invaders back there so you don't have to worry about the statues or oilpools.

#1: Shoot the black pool with fire arrow to bbq the tentacle monsters.
#2: Remember poison moss and common fruit.

Patience is key. Keep in mind that while the statues will respawn if you die or leave the area, they will not if you rest at a bonfire.

Also, keep in mind that there's a second bonfire to the right of where the invader shows up. It's blocked by a petrified hollow, but it's well worth getting considering that you got a branch at the beginning of this area.

I've had the invader fall to his death trying to follow me to this bonfire on more than one occasion. It's quite amusing.

2.- Get some fire arrows or bombs
3.- always carry posion moss or something to remove the poison (Divine Blessings, Dragon charms, etc)
4.- Don't lost the patience

i just kill the first 3 tentacle monster with fire arrows , and run for the rotten. If getting poisend pop life gems and keep running D: . The invader will despawn if u enter the fog gate.

drop down to lucatiel's tunnel, follow it around to the end, drop down and summon the 2 npcs, run past everything, keep to the right near the cliff edge, unpetrify the hollow, kill him, get to the bonfire, summon lucatiel.
you + 3 npcs should be able to clear up the mess, even if you don't you have the bonfire right next to the boss so it doesn't matter.

Use a whip to destroy the statues, it's a pretty ideal utility weapon for doing just that. The reach is nice, you can aim it slightly downward with the camera to get the ones laying on the ground, plus it has a wide attack range so you can break multiple stautes at once.

Greatbow can destroy statues from far.

Destroying the statues is a waste of time, as they respawn, if you die.

How I always do it:

1. Enter the area, rest at the first bonfire.
2. Run across the first area until the cave worms, drop down between them to Gandalf's door.
3. Drop down again to the giants, kill the giants, get the key, use the elevator to go to the surface.
4. Stay up in the cave exit, wait for the invader, shoot the invader with arrows for an easy kill.
5. Run to 2nd bonfire, warp to Majula, go down the pit, get Dragon Talon.
6. Warp to BG 1st bonfire, run to Gandalf's door again, open it, talk to him, bone out. (Optional, only if you want to kill the Darklurker.)
7. Warp to 2nd bonfire, run to fog gate, kill Rotten, light primal bonfire, use altar to go to Shulva to light its first bonfire.

Not a single statue destroyed, you can find a safe path across them, and you barely move on the surface the whole time. If you accidentally still get hit, just use some healing item to cure yourself and go on.

for me, it was insanely easy. i just ran through the whole place, not even killing anything until rotten. i rolled past the pools so i wouldnt get grabbed. just have a branch on you and rush to the bonfire, trust me it will work. then you can easily get to rotten from there.

go to door of pharros and get santier spear. destroy any statues with it since u dun have to worry about durability lost. also for those dark invaders u can just summon the 2 npcs to help u

Run to the 2nd. BF
This way is possible w/o fight.
Kill the Rotten :)

Just take your time. Black gulch isn't hard if you don't panic and run around like a headless chicken.

To destroy the statues any twinblade R1 hit does wonders since its low->high hitbox so it destroys statues that are on the ground as well.
