BoTC modding help

No other mods, followed all install instructions ( file path \Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin\Game, texture and char models set high), reinstalled ds2 and the mod, and yet every time I open the game it only lasts a few minutes before crashing. Any ideas? Asking over on nexus too

Found out if my controller is unplugged when launching the game that it functions as intended. Arbitrary but whatever it works.
