Melee weapon for a hexer/caster?
Any advice what would be a good choice with low str/dex investments? I cant keep using this +0 dagger forever lol.

Silverblack Spear.

How low on STR/DEX? Just 12 DEX will let you equip a rapier. Just 6 STR and you can 2-hand a Mace.
If you want the lowest possible and only need a melee option as backup, the Foot Soldier Sword is a pretty decent sidearm. Though it breaks rather quickly with it's 20 durability. Consider getting the Repair spell from Carhillion for longer stretches.

That spell is in a chest in Shaded Woods, you need to use a Branch in a Lion Warrior, at least in the Scholar version, maybe in vanila was diferent...

But yes, that Sword is pretty good.

The weak hollows[darksouls2.wikidot.com] in Forest of Fallen Giants with the sword&shield drop it.

Hand axe is also low investment...9/3 but more damage...120 vs 90 and better durability 50 vs 20.

Handaxe has crappy reach though. Other low req alternatives are the Thief Dagger and of course the Longsword which is more durable than the Foot Soldier Sword. Rapier isn't a bad choice either. Uhh and the Sanctum Shield deals a lot of damage for what it is. Only needs very low physical stats aswell. But really any of the light weapons with rather low reqs are fine. Estoc, Ice Rapier, Uchigatana, Manikin Sabre,...
The Roaring Halberd has higher - although still low - stat reqs aswell as bad durability, more weight and rather high stamina cost, but it hits hard. Like, really hard. Worth a consideration.

I just use the dagger, raw infused, to get backstabs and the occasional parry, so no need to invest in Str or Dex at all for it too, leaving you to focus on something else. The Rapier is a powerful weapon with minimal requirements, so that could be an option. Don't worry about spending the titanite shards, you'll get plenty and can buy unlimited small and large shards fairly early on.

I use a hand axe until I can get my hands on a scythe.

Roaring halbeard is awesome for a hexer. It's a little stats heavy (when I use it I put str ring on) but very usefull in DLCs.
And you can poke behind a shield with it.
