Stuck after the Rotten
Hi, i just defeated the rotten and gotten the last of the 4 old bosses, and i did get the soul from the spider too(i have the 4 achievs for the primal bonfires) and the green emerald told me to go to the castle but when i got in the shrine of winter, it says that the door is locked and i cannot continue in the game.

it sounds like your soul memory may be too low. or perhaps a bug. I'd look it up and see if this is a known problem. does the door tell you to "seek greater souls" or does it just stay inert. if it doesn't move I'd try seeing if you can't activate it like a regular door

it just say "closed".

You forgot to activate the purple light on the floor after the spider (Freya). Go back to her boss arena, and examine the light on the floor. You will get a "great soul embraced" message, and then the shrine will open.

Ooooohh I think I know what is happening.

You're interacting with the Shrine of Winter... which means you're trying to enter on the Ivory Crown DLC. The message "Closed" appears on those DLC doors if you don't have the key.

Yes, that is indeed closed for you right now.

Do not interact with the Shrine of Winter, you should just pass through it... keep going forward and you'll reach Drangleic Castle.

no I think he means the shrine of winter won't open. not the door to the dlc.

the shrine tho should teleport u to the dlc area without a key but u wont be able to open a door there

Thanks a lot guys, i was actually entering the shrine and not going to the actual castle!

Like you said on your first comment, the "locked message" for the door at the shrine is "Seek greater souls".

The DLC doors say "Closed" when you try to open them, that matched what Merc was describing.
