Problem with opening cinematic?

I have some problems with the opening cinematic, there's some stuttering and I am curious if anyone else encountered this issue and maybe knows why it's happening to me.

The in game cutscene, when you are prompted to choose your name and etc, works ok, the game itself work great, everything on high, far better than DS1 with dsfix did, on the same pc.
Honestly it's not that big of a problem, but still, I am curious if anyone else heard of it.

I think it's a known problem, i also have that stuttering but only in op cinematic. There's no problem within the game itself. Funny thing is, if I try to play the op video directly using media player, it's running fine, no stuttering at all.

Yep, I too searched for the opening cinematic in the DS2 folder and it plays fine with the media player...

It is a wmv video, so check what codec you use to override the default windows wmv codec, and disable it. There really is no better wmv codec than what MS makes anyway.

I thought it might be that and uninstalled the codec I had installed but nothing changed. I think you are right but I did not seem to be able to fix it, anyway thanks.

I have the same issue in SotFS and it only happens during the opening cinematic, regular DSII gave me no issues at all. I've pretty much just ignored it and since I've seen the cinematic a few times I just skip it now if I make a new character.
