Knight build? Help out a new player! :)
So I tried Sorcerrer but I didn't like it so I made a new character and chose the Knight class this time. The whole idea of weilding badass swords and smacking down foes sounded pretty sweet, so why the hell not.

I have to admit, the beggining was much easier than it was on my first playthrough (only played around 15 hours as a Sorcerrer and I didn't manage to do much) but I still can't beat the Pursuer boss at the Forest of the Fallen Giants or successfully kill those huge ass warriors at Heide's Tower of Flame.

How do I level my Knight? What items do I get and where, etc. General tips would also help.

Also note that I'm new so do not expect me to understand every single thing, so explain it in a way that a newbie like me would understand. :)

First of all, starting class only determines your initial stats and equipment; it does nothing to determine how you must or should level. You could take that "Knight" and develop him into an INT-focused character, for instance.

You seem like the type to want to use a wide variety of weapons, so a build that levels STR and DEX somewhat equally (often called a "quality" build) would likely work best for you. With regard to specific weapons, almost anything can work well for you so long as you upgrade it and it scales well with your stats. You can check the scaling when browsing weapons on the Equipment menu. A good weapon to use for now would be the Mace, as many enemies are weak to blunt damage. Buy it from the blacksmith.

As a battle-related tip, circling around larger, humanoid foes like the Pursuer and the Old Knights works well against them (circle to your right), as doing so makes many of their attacks miss.
So, the pursuer is SUPER weak to strike (blunt) damage, such as a club. That merchant by the bonfire sells a club that destroys him. Now, make sure you are under 70% equip load (bottom right of inventory screen) whenever he attacks get used to the timing and roll away, it works really well. Make sure to only attack the pursuer after he attacks and has long recovery time. I hated him when I was noob too!
Pursuer, back off until he raies his shield then quickly charches at you, then roll towords his shield, ger the fire longsword, get a decent shield unit after the Pursuer fight and you will find the best east game shield. the old knikgts are east, on thier first attack. roll under thier shield, back off a bit until they finith the combo then dash in to deal 1-2 attacks, it will take time to prefect, but every enomie in this game can die, no matter youre skillset. Respect the game and it eill respect you :D
I found that jumping back instead of rolling made him really easy. I'm a sorceror build.

For leveling well.....it depends what ring and armor you wanna use....big swords tends to be slow and not accurate...i like regular longswords they are faster and stagger fast...important stats is your hp of course...50 max...then 24 adaptability and whatever strengh you need to use the weapon of your choice and endurance...base 28..after that you put point in whatever you want....dks is about how you feel and your playstyle you like the most we all are different so listen and DONT listen to our advice in the end youll figure out on your own whats best for you !!! :) :) just have fun :) :)
Use a mace or a club on pursuer / old knights. You'll be suprised how much dmg they take.

literally anything with blunt damage since every enemy its heavy armored even most bosses.
Thanks ya'll for all the answers. I bought myself a Mace at the blacksmith in Majula and finally managed to defeat the Pursuer!

I have over 31k souls at the moment (I also defeated the dragon and the final boss of Heide's Tower of Flame with a phantom that I summoned who was surprisingely strong), and I'm still not sure how to level my character and I'm really scared of making a mistake. I still haven't decided what kind of player I am yet and what items I'll be using.

So how does one level his Knight?
Later you will get the ability to change leveling if you feel like you screwed up. Use the points before you lose the points.

Thanks, but still, how should I level? Right now I'm using a Twin Dragon Greatshield and a Mace / Halberd, if it matters..
No one can tell you how to level your stats if you don't know what kind of build you're going to use.

Will you be a strength build focused on using hard-hitting weapons?
A build that focuses on using dexterous weapons like thrusting swords or katanas?
A build that can use most weapons?
A sorcery-focused build?
A miracle-focused build?

there is no definitive way to level a knight based character. go with whatever suits you. If you want more health, put some into vgr. if you want to hit and sprint more, put some into end. If you want to shield turtle wearing heavy armor, put some into vit. if you want to wear light clothes and rolling, put some into adp.

I assume that you are not planning to use any kind of magic, so you can ignore atn, int and fth. Instead, take a look at str and dex. Minimum stat req for each weapon is fixed, but if you want to deal extra damage, level either str or dex depends on what the weapon scale with. FOr example, you are using a mace. This weapon scales at A with str, so put some more into str.

Thank you very much, your comment has been very informative.

Uh, I was thinking of either of these:

1. A tanky (meaning that he's difficult to kill) fighter that does devastating damage. Will either weird a shield and a one handed weapon or a big ass weapon that smites enemies to the ground or cuts them to pieces.
2. "They see me rollin', they hatin'" - a more nimble fighter. You know, running around, being able to attack faster, more opprotunistic playstyle, you get it. Not sure if this is quite possible in this game..
3. Using any weapon or gear I please whenever it seems fit.
Doesnt matter dark souls 2 use soul memory for online play thats mean you are forced to max every stat in game if you dont want to have a handicap.
