no man's espz. what exactly troubles you in regards to blue cathedral? before trying to help you, wouldnt you at least like tips first rather than summon?

Anyhow, how I do it is just run up to dragon and kill it. Screw the rest of the mobs. They can be dodged/avoided. If your weapon lacks damage, then this approach doesnt really work all that well, I suppose.

Second question: why do you 'have' to proceed in this direction? Signs usually appear near first bonfire in heides, btw.

yea I know it's easy for advanced players but this is my first souls game so im not exactly good lol I've tried to run to the dragon but there is like 6 mobs on me and I get destroyed. For no man's wharf Im at the boss but I dont do enough damage to him so Im kinda stuck right now.

are you by any chance in covenant of champions? if you are there won't be any summon signs both npc and players. it will also make the game harder by buffing the enemies and lessening your damage on them. might want to check dat 1st cause usually players had no idea that covenant basically turns the game a bit like ng+ lol check that first. if it's not, then prolly upgrade weapon. i could help but need time a bit to catch up to your soul memory since i'd have to make a new toon due to higher sm on my other toons.

It's definitely not a good idea to avoid the mobs leading up to the dragon; they will follow you and most likely kill you unless you have help. Kill everything leading up to the dragon (lure the spear knight out so that you don't wake it up prematurely), then dash to the dragon so that it doesn't breathe fire. Once it's just you and it, the dragon is easily defeated. Make sure to run back across the bridge if it flies up in the air, however.

What kind of build are you using (i.e. what are your stats and what are you focusing on when leveling up), and what weapon?

You should be able to avoid No Man's Wharf boss's every move. Each attack is well telegraphed and gives the player plenty of time to react. I'm thinking you just aren't trying hard enough to research on ways to beat certain areas. Co-oping kinda takes away a bit of the strategy towards this game. I'm just sayin'.

I also think my other advice still appies. This 'path' isn't completely necessary and you could go kill other bosses and come back later. Completely optional.

Your AGI stat makes evading attacks via rolling or backstepping much more difficult. You level your str/dex based on the weapons you are using; for the most part. Vigor, however, will be something you will want to get to around 40-50 by around end-game. Endurance and Vitality is up to you and your gear choice and amount of dodging/attacks you like to throw around.

Don't forget rings. Even if you can't get Third Dragon Ring right now, you can get Second Dragon Ring pretty early in the game, and Cloranthy Ring +1 for some nicely needed stam regen.

alright, I currently have the fire longsword what could be a good upgrade for a strenght/dex build?
I'd be glad to help you through most pre-drangleic castle areas, just gimme the word.

Any particular reason why you are going for Str & Dex at this point? 127k SM and it sounds like you spent quite a few points past minimum requirements to hold your weapons.... so it isn't being spent on survival.

Your biggest culprit could also possibly be weapon upgrade, or a lack thereof. Getting a weapon to as close to maximum (+10) is about one of the largest swings in game power you could receive.

For Dex: Rapier (any, really)
For Str: Clubs/Maces. People rave about the Large Club (Lost Bastille chest after Sentinels).

Wheatax Dec 29, 2015 @ 8:14pm
Pick str or dex for now until later where you have more souls to make a quality build (assuming this is what you are looking for which is usually equal stats between str/dex). You can always respec with a soul vessel you can acquire throughout the game. You might also want to experiment with a lot of weapons to find the movesets that you like and possibly build from there. A lot of people may love large clubs, but i'm not one. I love greatswords more for its balance between speed and good damage per swing. So it depends on personal preferences. Then you can upgrade it through Majula's blacksmith, mcduff in lost bastille or ornifex in brightcove. Weapon upgrades makes a huge improvement as do infusion.

There are also NPC summons that can help you in game. For example:

Heide's tower/Cathedral blue
- at bottom of the 2nd bonfire (before dragonrider door), you can summon Masterless Glencour to help you fight the mobs till the dragon. Just pull the enemy 1 by 1 to avoid getting overwhelmed. Then once you kill the spear heide knight, run towards the dragon before he does the fire and whack his feet. Just bait the dragon to the stomp, roll away then attack. Most of dark souls is just learning the enemy attack patterns and playing the bait and smack game

No Man's Wharf
- you can summon Lucatiel for the Flexile Sentry boss, provided you talk to her beforehand in that area. As for the boss, the longer it takes for you to kill him, the harder it will be due to room filling with more water. He's same as any other bosses, wait for him to finish his attack, drop 1-2 hit then be ready to roll/dodge/move away. Watching your stamina bar is more important than health bar lol Cause stamina management is very important.
