If you wanna make absolutely sure, look the games in question up on SteamDB.info. There you can see the the download depots.
For example, let's take a look at the SteamDB-entry for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth:

It has depots for Windows, Linux and macOS, but look closer and you can see no more Linux and mac support for the "Repentance" entry, which is the last DLC released.
I'm not a mac-guy, but i know that there are translation-layers similar to Wine/Proton for Linux available for mac. Those allow you to run WIndows-native games. But they cost money and are not guaranteed to work with all games. One's called "Parallels" and one "CrossOver". CrossOver[www.applegamingwiki.com] is made by people, who've contributed to Wine and Proton for Linux and is just a commercial version of the former /w customer support. They have a list on compatible software on their website.
