Appreciate the reply 👍🏻. The last thing I need is to get banned for wanting to stay far away from the recent hacker that has been a plague to these servers.

Theoretically if I were to get softbanned; would my Steam account get a VAC ban?

Many people use Blue Acolyte and so far, I've never seen anyone stating they got banned for it. Does this mean it's 100% safe? I don't know. At this point, I'd say using Blue Acolyte or not is up to the player's preference. Be aware tho, that the risk of getting invaded and banned due to the awful item injection hack is higher than getting banned due to Blue Acolyte mod, which contains many anti-cheats included. (I'm not sure if it prevents this particular cheat, but I suppose it does).

So far, no one is safe, since I'm pretty sure the person doing this cheat ignores SM and Areas, invading anyone who's available and since the community isn't that big, I'm pretty sure he can cause nasty damage daily, and since I'm not using Blue Acolyte at the moment, I'm playing offline.

EDIT: No, getting softbanned does not generate a VAC Ban, since From Software servers are not protected by the Valve Anti Cheat system.

I might do some digging. In the meantime I’ll play offline and go online when I need help with a boss/area.

Well that’s the biggest thing for me so that’s good news 👍🏻

No. Your Steam account will not be affected by a soft ban. At all. I was softbanned after modding and mistakenly forgetting to start the game in offline mode. All it did was prevent me to play with the pool of people who aren't softbanned in Dark Souls 2 and Scholars of the First Sin.
Your Steam account will be 100% safe.

Blue Acolyte is completely safe to use, and has been used by Dark Souls II's top PvPers since it's initial launch.
