uhhh isn't it mean to be heide tower first for it to be more difficult?
I hope the best for you in the game, and remember, never go hollow!
sorry i wasn't clear about that.. what i want to say was for starting dark souls 2: forest of fallen giants is easy, heide tower is hard.
-spear hollows - You would think that if someone is using spear he/she/it can not track You down while You are moving sideways, they can not only turn but also attack at the same time by 180 degrees or more
-mace old knights in heide tower or later in Dragons Shrine(or whatever it is called) - no recovery time and that means as melee character You have not any time to safely attack. This is the best example of bad enemy design, plus like spear guys they can easly track your position and hit you
-Red NPC invaders- even early invaders have 2000hp! and can 3 shot You, can chug, have poise from... NOTHING, if Lance had such a great tracking and follow up r1's like Maldron has You would not see even a single katana in PvP.
Everything is unfair and unbalanced just to make things harder not challenging.
Now look at Dark Souls 1.
Silver/Dark Knights - easy to backstab and parry, THEY HAVE POISE, high defences but low HP
-spear hollows- can not track You and turn by 90 degres while attacking
Just think how easy most bosses in Dark Souls 2 would be if You could fight them one by one
Gargoyles? pff
Ruin Sentinels? pff
Even Freja without small spiders is so simple... but they had to add the small just to make it harder
The only good designed enemy in Dark Souls 2 are Golems in third DLC(without head, are blocking the chest with Curved Nil Greatsword)
