PS5 Controller inputs no longer working properly

I'm 30hrs in and my ps5 controller suddenly stopped reading inputs correctly. Booted up game & "X" button no longer working to select "Continue" but I could move cursor up & down. If I used keyboard to hit enter & "Continue" my character immediately sprinted to nearest wall. Camera pointed up & spun around. Restarting DS2, steam, PC didn't fix issue. 2nd PS5 controller did same thing. Plugged in vs Bluetooth connection same issue. Tried to remap controller layout through steam, auto-detected ps5 as game pad. Wouldn't let remap buttons to Ps5 controller layout. Any advice to get steam to use ps5 controller like it used to?

today I had a similar issue. still do. everything work fine last night. today my controller is all messed up. found your post while taking a break from trying to solve my problem.

while looking into it doing a steam controller test showed everything worked fine. but...

controller does not work correctly in the start menu and once in game my character is stuck in a perpetual spin visually non stop. I can steady the spinning screen for a faction of a second with the mouse but I'm stuck in a perpetual visual spin and my right analog stick is doing button actions now.

I had the same issues when I tried to run DS3 as another test. Everything worked fine when I ran an other than DS game as another test.

I just fixed my problem... I enabled Steam Input for all other controllers and everything is fine now.

Steam- Settings- Controller... enable Steam Input for the other types of controllers. hope it fixes your issue.

Sounds, like a recent Steam Update may have messed up some controller-settings within Steam. I've recently seen similar posts on different game-discussions with people having their PS5 controllers acting up all of the sudden.

have you tried DS3 yet? my controller is still the same... as in messed up. doesn't work in the start up menu and still spinning in game.

DS2 is working normal though. I might have to turn one setting off out of the two we just changed and always change the settings when switching games. I don't know yet... I will post the results later on.

got my PS4 controller working correctly for both games now. My PS Controller Support was enabled but without support... Enabled now with enabled Steam Input for generic controllers only and everything runs fine now.

hope this info helps others if they have the same issues.
