Great Chaos Fireball need help from experienced pvpers
I love pyro and I want to try and get this. I just reached belfry luna for the first time and 3 guys invaded but I killed them all which makes me think my build must be strong at this level. Is it a good idea to do brotherhood of blood now or is there a better soul level range?

My build is:
lvl103 1842HP 99 agi cast spd 74
44 VGR 30 ATN 16 STR 25 DEX (was going for chaos blade) 16 ADP

My equipment is:
blue seal, chloranthy+1, ring of blades, clear bluestone ring
fire longsword +10, pyro flame +9, drangleic shield +3, lion mage cuffs, tattered set

I've got great fireball, fireball, fire orb, lingering flame, flame swathe and a bunch of others pyros I never use, but I'm giving great combustion some tries because I loved it in DkS1

I have a soul vessel I can use to respec. I got my dex up for the chaos blade but I've changed my mind, I never did well with it in DkS1 even though everyone said it was meta and the longsword works well for me.

Is there a better weapon I should be using? I heard fire infusion works better on weapons that have fire damage in their base form, and I'm gonna give some tries to lost sinner+1 to get flame weapon, and maybe a chaos blade

Are there any good pyros for pvp? Forbidden Sun is a long way off because I dont want to murder the map guy and I'd need to be at Aldia's first anyway which it seems is a long way off. I used lingering flame to set up a trap in that fight at the bottom of the hole but they didnt even fall for it so I ended up just using my sword. Ranged magic never went well for me in DkS1 except for WotG on my miracle build, everyone would just roll through or sidestep it and backstab me so I usually only used great combustion/black flame spam in between stunlock attempts with a falchion (I gave falchion a try in DkS2 but it had an awful flourish which slows the hits and has less range than the longsword it seems)

Any other advice for me if I'm going for this? I think the covenant spells are something I should plan to get sooner rather than later like with DMB in DkS1 or I might end up at a level where its hard to find pvp or where every opponent is a dark bead spammer with high latency or a DMB havel falchion with high latency

but thats more or less the same right? Then again I rarely die and I put most of my souls into levels so that might mean I'm higher level than most people I am matched with, this 3 guys certainly went down fast but +10 fire longsword does solid damage. They did seem to only have about 1200-1400HP though

soul level doesn't matter, you know. it's all about soul memory in dark souls 2.

The only time SL matters is when you fight in the BoB arena. That's the only place that doesn't match people by their SM.

and no person in their right mind would actually want to pvp in the arena unless they were in NG and wanted CREOs. because the arena is trash.
The bridge is worse. Played today on the bridge. Nothing but buffed Katana- and Axe-tryhards switching to their bow when your HP are low. They don't even bow, just rush, 4-shot you with your 2000+ HP and walk away to kill their next victim.
Switched to the arena. Still mostly Katanas, but less buffstackers and no tryhards. Nobody ever run to heal. On the bridge I ran into 3 healers and 2 gonkers in 30 minutes.

Well, people go on the bridge because they want short fights right? Then it's no surprise they're tryhards, they want to get the rank+3 grind over for their great chaos fireballs, kinda like what I'm doing

just yes. literally in one right now and i've seen all sorts of builds.occassional buff stacker with katana, but if you're not ♥♥♥♥♥ at the game you can easily destroy them. they're bad.
That's not the point. They aren't the best players out there, but I see these damn glowing Katanas everywhere. Hell, when I win 3 times in a row against someone, they'll pull out their Katana after trying to kill me with whatever they had before (if that wasn't already a Katana). It becomes boring. When I see a guy with Engraved Gauntlets + buffed Katana I usually BC out because I don't have fun killing them.

I'm not whining, but this is just ridiculous. I remember the good old days when SotFS wasn't released yet and Katanas had a counter of max 130. I really enjoyed the bridge PvP. But then the patch SotFS arrived and oh boy, the Katanas got buffed...

I mean, just look at the OP. Telling us that they want tips for pyros when planning to use a Chaos Blade...

Check your facts mate. You don't get any points on the bridge. Only in the arena. And the arena is usually friendlier and not as tryhard-ish as the bridge for sure.

why blue seal? does that even qualify as a ring? 2 vit from it or was it 2hp...

and typically clear bluestone will not help, by the time your life is that low to be triggered, your still gonna get 1shotted...

iron bridge and arena are both fine, ofc u get summoned by gankers now and then or pvp beginners who doesnt know the "rules" and use estus midfight but where else do u want to pvp?
if i go to arena at my lvl (around 560) i need to wait most of the time for like 2-4 mins or longer sometimes cuz the game doesnt find anyone.
on the bridge u get summoned in secs doesnt matter what sm

and as long as ppl dont have lag/latency (thx to no proper region lock), cheats or spamming estus i dont care what weps or builds they use. if i die i wasnt good enough

as for the blue clearstone ring, get the +2 one, it adds 22% to the base cast speed so u gain much more from it if ur int/att is high which will result in a high base cast speed

as long as u have more then 200 cast speed your chances of hitting ppl in pvp with spells is good.
if u want to use pyros u should also wear the penal handcuffs, it adds 7.5% to pyro dmg

for pyros in pvp there was a thread at some previous pages.
any kind of fireball is good, smallers to distract and biggers for dmg. try to use them unlocked too (bigger oens), the lingering lava on the ground will do dmg too if they roll over it.
have a close range spell like (great) combustion or firewhip
1 aoe spell like chaos storm or outcry shouldnt be missing also
firesnake is good to catch ppl who dont know how to dodge it and has nice tracking, try it

forbidden sun is a great spell for punish ppl who heal, use item or in midanimation cuz of the fast cast speed but also needs 3 slots and has only 2 casts (with 43 attunement) and 3 with hexer or saints hood

great chaos fireball is the strongest spell dmg wise. if the orb and the lava hits it does like 1400 or more dmg (depends on ur fire bonus scaling and the stuff u wear like fire clutch ring and penal handcuffs, also elemental resistance from ur opponent ofc)
has more casts then forbidden sun and needs 2 slots but cast speed is longer, try to use it unlocked sometimes

as for rings i use 3. dragon ring (more stamina for spells, hp and vitality), blue clearstone ring +2, southern ritual band +2 (adds 3 more slots) and the last ring changes, mostly ring of blades +2, against other casters (quartz rings) also depends on situation

well, long text but i hope it helps
and dont forget, if u want to have sucess with spells (doesnt matter which class) u need to time them and "combine" them. spamming them wont get u anywhere

if i want to, why shouldnt i? at my lvl/sm u can afford every build lol
but if it makes u happy i dont use katanas simply cuz i dont like the moveset (im a bandit axe fan, jeje tryhard i know)

atm im trying lances, didnt used them much

i like to try stuff out so it doesnt get boring

The guide I read said the bridge is fine. If that's been changed or he was mistaken then I admit my mistake, I was just going on what I was told

Clear bluestone ring is spell speed. I was wearing blue seal because I was afraid of being invaded by a low level griefer with a chaos scythe. Call it Dark Souls 1 PTSD XD

I was planning to use chaos blade because it was the meta in Dark Souls 1. But as I said it never worked well for me and I had more success with the longsword so I was planning to go with that unless someone said something like katanas are better in DkS2 which I think someone has just said as well

If I wanted fun pvp I'd join a tournament or go to honour bridge. I don't want fun pvp. I want Great Chaos Fireball. It says so in the topic title. I don't care if I'm the most hated tryhard in the souls community I only care about what the most effective strategy is. You can call me a tryhard, but you know what tryhards call people who won't use the best strategy and complain about others who do? Scrubs.

You've got your way of playing and I've got mine. And I won't judge or insult you if you don't do that to me
DonVISIONe Apr 1, 2016 @ 11:06am
the fastest way to get chaos fireball is to go to ng+2.
but u can try the long way, that would be BoB arena, it takes time and u need to win more then u lose ofc - good luck
✚ Mariel ✚ Apr 1, 2016 @ 12:12pm
Wait, whats that about NG+2?

Could it be... that I can get it without grinding?!
✚ Mariel ✚ Apr 1, 2016 @ 12:13pm
Oh wow, I just checked the other wiki and it says I can buy it in NG++!

Thankyou so much for letting me know this!!
DonVISIONe Apr 1, 2016 @ 12:14pm
yes, u can buy every spell and stuff from brotherhood of blood convenant in ng+2 from chancelor wegar (or how hes spelled), the ghost in drangleic castle
the guy in cathedral sells wrath of gods and blue sentinel stuff (targray)
