If you're careful to use a second weapon / roll to break things, and use your real weapon only for combat, you usually won't run out. Being careful with it is just part of the game.
What remains is an intended feature. Not the best, but intended.
it restores whenever you rest at a bonfire.
if you have a +5 weapon, it should make it easily through the entire no mans wharf area.
after that it seemed to be come less of an issue, since there are bonfires everywhere.
also, some weapons have special moves that will cause them to degrade huge chunks at a time, like special weapons where one strong attack is like 25% of a weapons durability.
but yea, its a good idea to carry an extra weapon.
I forgot to mention hitting walls; it runs through durability. It's best to be careful.
This is a good point; the stronger your weapon is, the fewer hits it will take to kill things. That's probably a big part of why durability feels better later into the game.
Durability in 60 FPS is working as intended
~~ From Software
Keep 2 weapons that you enjoy upgraded and ready to use, instead of just 1, and you'll be fine.
I mean if a medieval knight was hitting walls and copses his sword's edge would be non-existant after a few minutes aswell...
2 handing seems to help since you don't slam the sword into the ground every other swing.
But those are really just minor concerns, considering the rest of the challenges you'll be facing. It's a hard and frustrating game if you're new to it, but if you keep at it, you'll surely be rewarded at some point. Just like the time you finished Kung-Fu Master..
