Why does DSII look like a PS2 game?

I don't disagree that the DS animations were recycled in DSIII, but if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Animations in DS (as well as the character control...sensitivity? I don't even know what to call it. But it's not as good).

I don't know what PS2 generation games you've been playing, but the majority of them didn't look nearly as refined as any of the dark souls games (excluding demon souls). So far as the "why", it's because they want to have the games be available to as many people as possible on the PC platform, so they run less hardware impacting graphics and effects to enable people to run the game at least on low on a potato.

Nope. no VAC ban. It's a ban specific to from and namco/bandai. All it does is stick you on a server with all the cheaters/hackers/other people who "only used graphical mods". There are ways to circumvent it, but you still get caught again eventually, so it isn't worth it. Especially since it completely kills your gameplay from the online perspective.

Edit: no I'm not on said server, I just happen to know about it due to namco/bandai acknowledging the existance of it on sotfs.
